I - as a poor old man - haven't so many Western Zeiss objectives. So this photo shot with Zeiss Tele-Tessar 4/135 mm is a rarity:)
As a fan and collector of 135 mm objectives I cannot understand all the hype with this objective and its manufacturer. It is not a bad objective, but lacks built in hood and capability to handle hard backlight. That kind of things aren't problems with objectives costing half or one third (or less!) of the price of this objective. You can see the sharpness by yourself. Be assured that this wasn't shot wide open:)
Objective 3: Composition Techniques – Use the guide on the website
1. Rule of Thirds: The focal point of the photo is the arch on the fence. The eye is drawn there because it’s not right in the middle but off to the side using rule of thirds. The background is also blurred and the arch is clear so it stands out even more.
2. Perspective and depth: I took this photo from a low point of view which is how we wouldn’t normally see the fence, doing so gives it a different perspective. It also looks bigger in the image due to how close up it is. The photo also has depth because you see most of the fence and it goes far back creating a deeper image.
3. Fill the Frame
4. Backgrounds: the background in this photo is a forest but it’s blurred out so it doesn’t distract from the fence and leads your eye to the focal point. It’s also a dark colour while the fence is quite light, making the fence standout more. It’s also
5. Leading Lines: The leading line is the fence it can be seen as leading to the focal point/ arch of the fence helping it pop more, or it goes to the end of the photo and fades out.
6. Pattern
7. Texture
8. Framing
9. Colour
10. Diagonals
11. Space and/or Space to Move
12. Balance
Objective 4: Lighting (side, back, soft, hard, fill)
Types of lighting and how they contribute to the image: the lighting in the image was outside which is quite soft so it doesn’t look to harsh
Objective 5: Post Production (resize, contrast, sharpening, and others you have done)
Corrections/adjustments made:, I resized the image to 1000 so it fits on flickr. I also sharpened the image so its more clear and stands out more. I also added a little contrast so that the brights and darks work with eachother and make the other pop.
Objective 6: Critique
Analyse your photograph for strengths and areas for improvement (consider composition, lighting, exposure, overall feel, etc.)
Strength: I think the strength in the photo is the depth and perspective because I think it’s a different way of seeing the photo rather than a different angle. I also think the colours help to compliment and make the arcg standout since its so light against darks.
Area for growth: I think I could be more steady because I would like a sharper image. I also would like to aim for a less distracting background because I don’t like the trees in the background.
007 - It was a beautiful day outside today. This photo doesn't really reflect how beautiful it was by any means. My objective was to create a mood and inspire an emotion. Wall-E looks quite sad. I suppose it's because he's stuck inside while his Eve is out there somewhere.

Week Assignment
1 November - 5 November 2010
Research: In this assignment you will work in groups and research new neighbourhoods around Stockholm. Your task is to arrange a field trip to one of four residential areas in Stockholm. Find out as much as you can about the respective area, its history, political background, relation to context and link this discussion to actual observations on site. Make your presentations in relationship to different scales, from overarching visions to the smallest details. Try to create an interesting narrative. Your subjective reflections as individuals and as a group is more relevant than the telling of an “objective” story. The underlying question being: What is the stuff contemporary cities are made of?
Objective 3: Elements and Principles of Design
The principles of design demonstrated (describe the use):
Unity - There is unity in this picture because there are flowers in the whole picture
Harmony - This picture has harmony because there are flowers in the whole thing
Balance - Even tho my main focus is on the flower on the right, the two on the left that are in colour and out of focus help balance the picture causing your eye to look at the whole picture not just the one flower
The elements of design demonstrated (describe the use):
Line - The types of line you see in this picture are Leading and Curved lines. The curved lines on the flowers make them see relaxed and beautiful, the leading line (formed by the three flowers) leads your eyes through the picture to the focal point.
Texture - The texture in the flowers suggest that they are soft and smooth to the touch
Objective 4: Lighting
Type of lighting and why: The lighting is hard direct natural lighting this is because i was outside during the day
Objective 5: Post Production
Corrections/adjustments made:
Black and white - I put it into black and white then brought back the colour of the flowers so that the three flowers would stand out more from the background
Selective colour - I used this to change the flowers from a red to a more pinkish colour
Brightness/Contrast - i used this to bring out the colour in the flowers a bit more
Other - I resized the photo so then i could put it on Flickr then i added my signature
Objective 7: Photographic Styles
Type/style of photography: Nature
The camera mode (P, Tv, Av, M): Av
f stop used: 4.5
shutter speed used: 1/2000
ISO used: 400
Exposure compensation: 0
Focal length: 36 mm
PHOTO 5
Objective 3
3. Fill the frame: The fill the frame in this photo is the all the leaves on the trees and the trees. The leaves and the trees are a big part of fill the frame and my photo because it added color, depth, and texture then what the cloud would have done.
7. Texture: The texture in this is the leaves and the tree branches. The texture is a good looking part in this photo because the detail on the trees branches make the photo more interesting, better looking and it will keep viewers looking at the photo for a longer time.
Objective 4
Side lighting: The side lighting is coming from the left side of the photo. The side lighting in this photo helps to make the photo better because it makes the leaves have more color and adds shadows to the areas where there is soft light shining.
Soft lighting: The second example of lighting is soft lighting in the middle of the photo. Soft lighting makes this photo better because if it was all hard light you wouldn’t be able to see all of the texture and color in the photo.
Hard lighting: the hard lighting in this photo is the tips of the branches of the trees on the left and right. It makes the photo look better because it makes the tips of the trees stand out more.
Objective 7
The style of the photo is landscape and the settings I used where: AV mode, 7.1f and the shutter speed is 1/125, the ISO is 200. I used no exposure compensation and my focal length is 18.0mm.
Objective point of view is shown here by a bystander's view of what is going on in the photo. Here we can see that the bystander is watching the model in her pike stretch.

Photo #2
Objective 3: Composition Techniques – Use the guide on the website
2. Perspective and depth: The lower perspective makes the image look large that it is. The lower perspective draws the eye to the bottom of the image because it was made the largest.
4. Backgrounds: The background is simple because everything is normally in the environment that the picture is taken. The background is slightly out of focus which draws the eye to the focal point.
5. Leading Lines: The yellow lines focus the eyes to follow them and create leading lines.
7. Texture: The texture is created from the rocks that are on the ground. The rocks on the ground create a rough texture.
Objective 4: Lighting (side, back, soft, hard, fill)
Types of lighting and how they contribute to the image: The image as soft lighting because the sun was blocked by the shade of the wall.
Objective 5: Post Production (resize, contrast, sharpening, and others you have done)
Corrections/adjustments made: darkened, contrasted, sharpened,
Objective 6: Critique
Analyse your photograph for strengths and areas for improvement (consider composition, lighting, exposure, overall feel, etc.)
Strength: The lower perspective for the larger focal point
Area for growth: Could have blurred the background more to be less of a distraction
