Three of these were painted in 2002 before the Calgary GT. The fourth was finished this morning. Now the rules state objectives have to be on 40mm bases, I had actually done that for the "beer and nuts" objective, but ammo and chips I had to rebase. Maybe I should have added skulls, my basing and rebasing strategy is basically sand, plastic skulls, and plastic Nurglings. I used some Contrast paint on the newest objective, but I also uses washes, glazes, and hand painted highlights.
1. The objective of this photo was Ricky! I used Ricky because I love his facial structure and wanted to see how the light and shawdows would appear.
2. The subject of this photo was focusing on shawdows and hard lighting as well as seeing how it would capture on Rickys face.
3. We digitally shot this photo using a white background as well as a black card board sheet covering some of the light on his face.
NATO's primary objective in Afghanistan is to enable the Afghan authorities to provide effective security across the country so it can never again be a refuge for terrorists. Along with conducting security operations and mentoring Afghan National Security Forces, building adequate facilities where troops may live, work and train is vital to promoting a strong security force.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has constructed dozens of installations to support NATO's objectives with dozens more under construction, including the Regional Military Training Center in Kandahar province. The installation will be the site of basic warrior training, follow-on specialty training and day-to-day operations for up to 3,000 Afghan National Army personnel. The project includes the design, materials, labor and equipment to construct administration buildings, dining facilities, a fitness center, medical clinic, small arms storage, parking areas, barracks and more. Valued at $42 million, the RMTC in Kandahar is currently about 50 percent complete. A local Afghan company was awarded the contract.

This pyramid is to illustrate the connections between Strategic objectives and KPIs. It is for my blog post on KPI traceability. bit.ly/15u1K
The main tower was our objective for this trip. Jordan and I have seen this tower from Sunrise Glacier. It was beaming white and was visible from many perspective. But from where our basecamp was and what we had to go through to get to it, it would have been a pretty painful ordeal. So we took it a bit easier and tagged Pegasus's north face instead.

U.S. Air Force Fact Sheet THUNDERBIRDS
Mission
Officially, the Thunderbirds are known as the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron.
The squadron’s mission is to plan and present precision aerial maneuvers to exhibit the capabilities of modern, high-performance aircraft and the high degree of professional skill required to operate those aircraft.
Within this broad mission, the team has five primary objectives: − Support Air Force recruiting and retention programs − Reinforce public confidence in the Air Force and to demonstrate to the public the professional competence of Air Force members − Strengthen morale and esprit de corps among Air Force members − Support Air Force community relations and people-to-people programs − Represent the United States and its armed forces to foreign nations and project international goodwill
The Team
The Thunderbirds squadron is an Air Combat Command unit composed of eight pilots (including six demonstration pilots), four support officers, four civilians and more than 100 enlisted personnel performing in almost 30 job specialties.
A Thunderbirds air demonstration is a mix of formation flying and solo routines. The four-jet diamond formation demonstrates the training and precision of Air Force pilots, while the lead and opposing solo aircraft highlight some of the maximum capabilities of the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
The pilots perform approximately 40 maneuvers in a demonstration. The entire show, including the ground show and air demonstration, lasts about 75 minutes. The season typically starts in March and ends in November, with the winter months used to train new members.
Officers serve a two-year assignment with the squadron, while enlisted personnel serve three to four.
The squadron performs no more than 80 air demonstrations each year and has never canceled a demonstration due to maintenance difficulty. More than 280 million people in all 50 states and 57 foreign countries have seen the red, white and blue Thunderbirds jets in more than 3,500 aerial demonstrations.
In addition to their responsibilities as the Air Force’s premier jet demonstration team, the Thunderbirds are part of our combat force. If required, the team's personnel and aircraft can be rapidly integrated into a fighter unit at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Since the aircraft are only slightly modified, they can be made combat-ready in less than 72 hours.
F-16 Fighting Falcon
The Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon represents the full range of capabilities possessed by the Air Force's tactical fighters. This highly-maneuverable multi-role fighter has proved to be one of the world's best precision tactical bombers and air-to-air combat aircraft. The only modifications needed to prepare aircraft for air demonstrations are a smoke-generating system and painting in Thunderbird colors. Additional information about the F-16 can be found at www.af.mil/AboutUs/FactSheets/Display/tabid/224/Article/1....
History
The Thunderbirds were officially activated June 1, 1953, as the 3600th Air Demonstration Unit at Luke AFB, Ariz. The unit was nicknamed the “Stardusters.” Their first aircraft was the straight-winged F-84G Thunderjet, a combat fighter-bomber that had seen action in Korea. Early in 1955, the team transitioned to the swept-winged F-84F Thunderstreak.
In June 1956, the team moved to its current home at Nellis. At the same time the Thunderbirds traded the veteran F-84 for the world's first supersonic fighter, the F-100 Super Sabre -- an aerial platform that would serve the Thunderbirds for 13 years. More than 1,000 demonstrations were flown in the Super Sabre, thrilling spectators around the world. In 1964, the team changed briefly to the F-105B Thunderchief, but an in-flight mishap revealed a problem with that airframe’s design. So, after only six shows, the Thunderbirds returned to the F-100.
From 1969 to 1973, the Thunderbirds flew the Air Force's front-line fighter, the F-4E Phantom II. In 1974, the Thunderbirds converted to the T-38 Talon, the world's first supersonic trainer. The T-38 was more fuel-efficient and less costly to maintain, which made it an ideal choice during the oil crisis of the 1970s.
Early in 1983, the Thunderbirds reinstituted their traditional role of demonstrating the Air Force's front-line fighter capabilities. Transition to the F-16A allowed the team to retain manpower and fuel efficiency while demonstrating to spectators the latest in fighter technology.

The MIR-1 objective has a standard 52mm filter thread. So it was quite easy to find a reversing ring for that (and cheaply from a place where they like rice - you know).

The main objective of the project was to improve the quality of education received by students of the Livestock Training Agency (LITA) in Tengeru, Tanzania in the field of veterinary science (parasitology and parasitic diseases). The project was implemented by the foundation "Cultures of the World" and carried out by volunteer Maciej Klockiewicz.
Głównym celem projektu była poprawa jakości kształcenia studentów szkoły rolniczej LITA (Livestock Training Agency) w tanzańskiej miejscowości Tengeru w dziedzinie nauk weterynaryjnych (parazytologii i chorób pasożytniczych). Projekt został przeprowadzony przez fundację "Kultury Świata", a realizującym go wolontariuszem był dr Maciej Klockiewicz.
At the end of their first year at the U.S. Naval Academy the freshmen, known as plebes (for plebeian), undergo a ritual rite-of-passage that symbolizes their transition from lowly plebes to full-fledged midshipmen. This event is known simply as "Herndon" or the "Plebe Recognition Ceremony." The tradition has endured at the Naval Academy for many years.
The challenge: to scale the 21-foot tall gray granite obelisk, remove the "dixie cup" plebe hat on top and replace it with a midshipman's cover. To make it more difficult the tower is greased; this year with 36 pounds of butter, two gallons of canola oil and several tubs of vegetable shortening.
At the sound of a cannon blast, more than 1,000 eager, screaming plebes charge toward the Herndon monument. As they attempt to climb the lard-covered monument and sweaty bodies mix with the slippery slime, early optimism succumbs to gritty determination. Agony shows on the faces of those at the bottom of the pyramid as they support upon their shoulders three or four tiers of bodies above them. Those at the top strain to climb as high as possible in order to switch out the hats before losing their balance and falling into the mass of classmates below. Only by using discipline, teamwork and courage can they achieve success.
The fastest time for climbing a greased monument was 20 minutes in 1972. The longest time was 4 hours and 5 minutes in 1995.
The objective of the work is to show that despite the dangers of maintaining financial security, freedom of commerce is still possible.

The MKC Objective Individual Utility Firearm is an OICW fit to several unique purposes. With a .50cal Carbine beneath a 30mm caseless GL, destructive power is the best purpose it can serve.
After the usual bulk amount was sold and shipped out to military forces, the weapon caught the eye of a Defense Ambassador from planet Byrus who was sitting in on a demonstration. He immediately referred it to the Byrus Mining Ambassador, who purchased 1,500 specialized units on his planetary and inter-planetary mining budget.
The weapon was then re-fitted to serve a greater purpose towards the miners. To start with, an incredibly small yet dense suppressor was added for the sole purpose of keeping the miners from going deaf from the reverberated sound of .50cal rounds bouncing off of cave walls. Then a muzzle break was attached to the launcher to increase the velocity of the grenade ordinance. Several extra grips were added across the side to accommodate the large hands of the miners, and a visual round counter was added to the grenade launcher. Finally, the weapon was re-colored to the traditional Byrus Safety Pink, and a simple, rugged night vision display was added.
The miners greatly appreciated the weapon, as it helped them to defend themselves from the monstrosities which inhabit areas below the surface of many planets. Also, the grenade launcher came in handy for blasting at loose rock.
Objective: run a disc brake on the front for commuting / touring and be able to swap to regular road wheels quickly with no fuss.
Solution:
Winwood Muddy CX disc fork with BB5 caliper. Purchased a replacement headset to get a new crown race. Kept the cable hanger and original canti outer, then replaced the brake cable with a new rear cable and spliced the new outer to the original with a barrel adjuster.
I can switch to road wheels by swapping out the fork for the original UltraCross fork and canti brake cable. Takes about 15 minutes.
