This is an unusual angle on the South Wing of the Banff Springs Hotel, the "Castle of the Rockies". This wing houses the beautiful Mount Stephen Hall. See my vertorama below for an interior shot.

I was notified a week ago to take a promotion ad for a rapper who recently signed with p.diddy. I didn't really know what to expect from the photo shoot, being that it seemed more like a fashion one, but it turned out pretty well. I never knew I'd do something for rapping because I never listen to that kind of music (rather the opposite). But it was a great experience, nonetheless.
And today, Daisy has officially been nicknamed "the Goat." It is most likely self explanatory... ;)

Oh my god.
Yes.
Give me this doll now.
With great sadness I have to notify my friends that my dear little furry companion Jonah has passed. Yesterday. He didn't make it to age 17. He has had a wonderful life and was much loved and spoiled rotten.
It was a cold morning when we were notified we had to gear up and defend, my squadron got ready to get out and defend, and in our last minutes before the fight we slowly opened up the door, no one spoke we all have there would soon be bloodshed

Thank you so much for the wonderful testimonial Becky!!! www.flickr.com/photos/knitgirl/ I am so flattered...I did not know it was there because flickr doesn't notify us. Now you can all check too...just in case...or check out Becky's stream..she has a wonderful variety of very clever images.
facebook notified me that I took delivery on this custom Ahearne bicycle, 10 years ago to the date.
It, and I, have had many, many adventures together. The top three would be:
1. Paris-Brest-Paris in 2011
2. Portland to Mt. Shasta & back, solo, 2013
2. tour of Flanders in 2015
I've lost track of how many miles are on the bike, but it's probably approaching 20,000.
I rode late this afternoon ~7 miles (after dark) and grabbed this acknowledgement image on the Crescent Connection Trail in Beaverton.

“It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. We all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. And yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know. It is like walking up the stairs to your bedroom in the dark, and thinking there is one more stair than there is. Your foot falls down, through the air, and there is a sickly moment of dark surprise as you try and readjust the way you thought of things.” - Lemony Snicket
**The last song she listened to (And how do I know? Because it was open on her laptop by her bedside): www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYaLhhJswcI
[I don't even know where to begin without just saying it outright: the reason I've been absent is because my mother died. It was sudden, and unexpected, and I am currently lost, and experiencing a sad I never knew existed. My mother was a heavily troubled, beautiful, talented, exceedingly clever, hilarious, and amazing person. (She had an astoundingly green thumb, hence the botany in this image. The poppies indicate her passing--she is forever asleep now.) I can tell you without a shred of doubt that any sort of artistic talent I've been born with is solely due to her. Our relationship was complicated--words simply cannot describe it. Perhaps at some point I'll attempt to quantify it.
This event has thoroughly shaken me. I've discovered an entirely new spectrum of emotions--just when I was certain I'd felt them all. I was notified on Friday, May 17th. She passed away on Wednesday, May 15th. I've been back and forth to California since then, spending every last ounce of energy to console my poor little brother of nine years old, to make arrangements regarding her estate, and to spread some of her ashes into the ocean (me, my older brother, and my younger brother will all be taking the remainder of the ash and planting her ashes in our respective places of residence [I'll be seeking out a proper tree that will flourish in my forest that I frequent]).
You discover rather quickly that you're not really certain whether or not you want to share the horrible news with anybody--because at that point you have to deal with not only your own emotions but theirs as well. You find yourself consoling the people trying to console you. You also find that your tragedy makes others uncomfortable. They may not know what to say or how to react. They may be in shock themselves. Usually there are questions. So many questions. Questions you don't want to answer. You may even find yourself angry at their concern and curiosity.
I cried more in a condensed period of time than I think I have ever cried. I continue to cry. Every day. It comes in waves. Between the overwhelming sadness is a numbness that makes me seem cold and unfeeling. My voice become uncontrollably monotone, and I feel nothing short of utterly empty. I am not the same person I was before this happened. I can say that with absolute confidence.
At this point I can't even tell if this is too much information or too little or whether the sky is blue or whether I will ever overcome this sadness. I have a strong sense that this is a sadness that will never fully leave me. The only thing I know for certain is that I will work even harder to live my dream and honor her memory. You can expect to see many more images inspired by her. And you can expect to hear much more about her. But this is all I can manage right now, today. Baby steps. Not even. Crawling. I am crawling.]

Noor Mahal the italian style palace of the fifth ruler of Bahawalpur State, Nawab Sir Muhammad Sadiq, is the latest monument in the Punjab to be notified under the Antiquities Act.Completed in AD 1875, one of the most exquisite buildings in the state, Noor Mahal was meant for the residence of the Nawab. He, however, did not lived here for a singal day after being cautioned against doing so on account of its proximity to the Basti Muluk Shah graveyard.
Supervised by Mr Heenan, a British Engineer, the palace was later used as the state guest house. The Nawab also held occasional cabinet meetings here and gave audience to notable guests. On some occasions the palace was used as the State Court for the Nawab's address to his courtiers. Noor Mahal was built in the middle of a spacious garden having a water tank and fountains. Thick carpets covered its verandahs and the walls were decorated with paintings, most of them by western artists.
The two-storey palace had exquisite furniture and fixtures like chandeliers and cupboards. There was a rich collection of arms in its armoury. Some swords and muskets were also displayed on the palace walls. A mosque, styled like the one at the Aitchison College, was added to the palace by Nawab Bahawal Khan, a later ruler of the state of Bahawalpur. The palace was completed at a cost of RS. 1.2 million. Repairs half a century later cost Rs. 100,000. The mosque was built at a cost of Rs. 20,000. The property dispute among the heirs of the last ruler resulted in Noor Mahal (as well as several other buildings) being abandoned.

My buddy Geoff notified me that outside we were experiencing the rare "sun halo" so I scrambled around to find something interesting to use as a foreground.
Looking it up on the highly scientific Wikipedia:
A diffraction disc or Airy disc has similar appearance, but is a disk, rather than a ring, and has a red border on the inside. Its size depends on the size of the ice or water particles that cause it. These are also known as coronas, but are not to be confused with the thin streaming luminous gas that makes up the sun's own corona.
See, you've learned something today, so you can go home now
Have a good weekend all
Olivia's one smart cookie. She knew immediately when the grooming part was over and yelled to notify the next in line. She and Musetta (Musetta especially) were awesome on the table last night. I finally used the Dremel tool on their nails and it made things SO much faster. Once I finished with Olivia and Musetta, I Dremeled everybody else in very rapid succession.
After ditching sunday service 18A, EYMS notified local councils that from early May they were going to withdraw service 18 as well meaning there would be no service to York from Bubwith, North Duffield, Thorganby etc, but Holme on Spalding Moor would be served by some 46 services being re-routed. An interim timetable is being used for the time being with EYMS still running the 18 but with just a single vehicle - the first journey of the day coming from the depot starts at Holme whilst the last journey of the day leaving York goes all the way to Holme as the bus then goes back to the depot, but all services in between terminate short at either Bubwith, North Duffield, or Wheldrake and East Riding council then uses one of their fleet to fill in the gap.... A longer term solution is expected soon though, and I wouldn't be surprised if the result is that both services going through Wheldrake are then run by the same company.
Seen on the very last day of full service, Volvo B9TL Wright Eclipse Gemini YX08 FYC is at Thorganby church heading to HOSM and Market Weighton. I couldn't find an up to date timetable before I set off, but I waited around here as I suspected a bus was due and then this came along about 8 minutes later.
Joni was notified earlier today by a Flickr staffer by the name of Olivia that Joni's Flickr account had been removed from its suspended state, and presumably reinstated. The email that I received from Olivia reads verbatim as follows:
"Hi there,
We appreciate you bringing your account into compliance. We have removed the suspended state of your account. Please ensure that your account continues to meet the requirements of the free account limit changes. If more unsafe content is found in the future, your account will be suspended again.
Have a great day!
Sincerely,

Trust & Safety "
Well it's great to be vindicated and forewarned in the same email. I say "vindicated" because when I appealed, I claimed that all of my photos in my photostream were actually SAFE, with the exception of one photo which was rated as RESTRICTED. However, I argued that the photo in question was erroneously rated as RESTRICTED, when in fact its content was SAFE. Apparently, Olivia agreed, and I have been reinstated, but I won't know for certain unless and until others act on this photo and others by viewing, commenting, or faving. . . .
Was notified that this LAUNTW had a "GN Surprise" on the rear of the train. Definitely wasn't kidding, a GN rotary and F9B were put on the back to be brought to Northtown. Not sure what it'll do there. If my history is correct, the rotary was built for the GN in 1927, and the F9B was built in 1956 for the Northern Pacific, on the side its labled "Rotary Snow Plow Power Plant". Definitely one of the neatest things I've seen on the Wayzata Sub.
When you have been notified that the person you took to lunch the day before has Covid, you have to improvise at home for challenges. Scrabble is always a good go-to and I thought I remembered Suzy, the university president’s secretary, was a clown many, many years ago. Totally impressed I found that hard copy shot. Suzy passed away from cancer long ago but this image exemplifies her buoyant spirit.

"Alright, so you mean to tell me that you just fancied a walk through the lovely streets of this part of the Sprawl? And you stumbled upon the massacre at Pendleton ISM station quite by accident?"
Detective Sanchez from MetroSec didn't like me... I could tell by his mocking tone.
"Yes, sir. That's exactly how it happened." "And then, instead of notifying MS authorities, you decided to investigate on your own? Armed with the military grade weapons we found on you?" I shrugged, "I have a permit for those." I did... a forged one, but the good detective didn't need to know that particular information. He sighed. I held a sigh of my own back. It had all gone wrong...
When I had taken out the combat hacker, I hurried to lockbox A-211. I could hear the sirens, MetroSec troops were already on their way. I guessed that I had at the very least 7 minutes until they arrived. That should have been enough time for me to retrieve the package and leave the ISM station before the cops arrived. Not much, but enough.
After a very short search, I found the box. I opened it with the key that Jac had provided me. I looked inside, and... found nothing. Nothing but an opened stasis box.
That... was not good.
I didn't... feel too good.
I felt weird... and with that, I blacked out.
I had no idea how much time had passed, but when I came to, I looked into the barrels of four AR 11-A standard MetroSec assault rifles. Not the most welcome sight when one regains consciousness. Behind the barrels I could make out four cops in full-body armor. Those weren't ordinary cops; they belonged to MS Exterminator troops. I stood up very, very slowly, making sure that my hands were visible at any time. You should do everything very, very slowly while being at the center of attention of four Exterminator troops. These guys were the cavalry. MetroSecs last line of defense... so to speak. They took my weapons. One activated his external communicator: "Come with us. One aggressive move and you're history. Understood?" I nodded. What else could I do?
They led my out of the ISM station into an amassment of even more MS troops. There were a lot of multi-wheeled APCs and a real horde of UAVs... they'd really shown up in force. My guards led me to the nearest APC and stuffed me in the troop compartment with them. The one who spoke to me earlier turned to the cockpit, "To Sector HQ". For this sector that meant a longer drive.
Good. That meant time where I could try and figure out what happened with the package... at least that's what I told myself.
It was just too weird. The box didn't show any sign that the crazies had gotten to it, opened it. It had seemed completely undisturbed when I opened it. And yet, the package had sat there, opened. I was in some serious trouble, I reckoned. I mean, I didn't know who had ordered Jac to have me bring the package across Sprawl, but I doubted they would react kindly to me.. well... losing the package.
Even weirder was me blacking out. That's not how I react to stress. I should know; I lead a rather stressful life. I could make neither head nor tail of this.
Being totally lost in thought, I nearly missed the arrival at MS Sector HQ. Not that I could see it from the inside of the APC anyways. The APC stopped and my guards and me left the troop compartment. I must admit, for a second I was as awed as any law-abiding Sprawl citizen (I know, I know.. cue laughter here). The HQ was as high as any corporate sky-riser (though not as big as a corporate arcology) and it dwarved nearby buildings. It was clear that the HQ was indeed designed to awe citizens. It was a massive block of glass (no real windows, just really big plates of glass), polished and emblazoned with a giant version of the MetroSec star-shaped logo. The main entrance to where my guards led me was an almost cavern-like affair. Sheltering and threatening at the same time. The message was clear: If you're law-abiding and good, you have nothing to fear. But if you're bad... Oh boy, will you get a thrashing.
I briefly wondered where people like me, who work in... er... greyish areas, fit in.
I guessed I would find out soon enough.

Countdown to Halloween
The Coast Guard was notified of the movement of the cargo container but did not have any idea on what craft it was sailing. Sam Shoegum and Ursula head for the Coast Guard base where they met with Commander Sky Waters and explained their situation.
“I’ve been on reconnaissance missions before where we only had a tracking signal. We were able to use our tracking system to zero in on the craft. Give me the tracking frequency and we’ll enter it into our system on our Medium Range Recovery Helicopter
. We’ll find that ship in no time.” Commander Waters was very assuring that he and his crew would find that craft.
“Thank you,” Sam and Ursula said jointly. Sam continued, “Here is the frequency you’ll need.”
“Got it.” The Commander entered the frequency into his system and in no time, the signal was showing on the radar screen. “It’s not too far from shore. I’ll radio our jet-ski patrol to intercept. Are you guys ready for a ride?”
“Ursula will go to assist in the recovery,” Sam told the Commander. “She’s a former Navy officer who also had training in recovery operations. I’ll be back at our office waiting for updates.” Sam waved to Ursula as Ursula gathered her gear and boarded the helicopter.
“This will be like old times,” Ursula said to herself.
Washingtonville, NY
The Moffat Library of Washingtonville received calls from both the offices of Senator William J. Larkin and Assemblyman James Skoufis last week, notifying us that we were to receive $135,000.00 in 2017-18 NYS DLD Library Construction Program grant funds towards the renovation of the library’s historic carriage house building.
Once renovated, the restored carriage house will provide additional and much-needed space for the Library’s local history and other special collections. In 2017 an appropriation of $24 million in capital funds for public library construction was included in the state budget. This week’s announcement of projects to receive funding occurred a year after the library’s submission of a successful application.
“We are thrilled to be able to have an additional space to assist in providing even more services to the community,” said Library Director Carol McCrossen. “Moreover, the fact that we are able to rehabilitate an existing historic structure to meet those needs makes this even more exciting for us. On behalf of the Moffat Library, we express our sincerest thanks to our NYS Legislators for their continued support of libraries and the communities that they serve.” Final approval for the project is expected soon; and construction should be getting underway in the months following.
I'd like to think that despite the close proximity of safety and the exit being but a toss of a stone's distance away these folks were unable to navigate the labyrinthine passages to safety. Don't worry, the Coast Guard were notified and they were airlifted from danger, still closer to the center than to the exit.
Anyway, a little bit of catch up tonight while I use the time to work on some more recent images.

Once again, Stormtrooper Bruce's plans for Movie Night have gone awry! Having been placed on Emergency Security Duty for reasons not disclosed to him, STB reluctantly notified the guys that their weekend plans have been cancelled.
TK-432: Dude! Really! You think we're gonna cancel just because you've got to guard this creepy place? It may be your duty to be here, but it's our duty to back you up!
TK-1110: We're the Three Musketeers - all for one and one for all. Or something like that. So, we've brought food and drink. No brewskies until you're off duty!
TK-432: And I brought the cards. How about a few hands of ... oh I forgot what this is called. But you know what I mean, right? So, when do you get off duty?
STB: Guys! You came all this way even though I cancelled at the last minute? And you brought ... stuff!?! You're the bestest buds a Trooper could ever have! I have to guard this crazy excuse for a Petting Zoo until midnight, when shift changes. Rumor has it there was a break in. Here of all places!
TK-1100: More like a break-out considering what the P keeps in here! Vader still won't spill the beans, eh? Very suspicious, if you ask me!
TK-432: Renovations? Puh-lease!! I think it's a trap! He knows something, and has you here, armed, waiting for some pesky Rebels to show up!
STB: Perhaps. But, since you're here, let's eat! I'm starving! And afterward, maybe we can find some pens and add to the graffiti. I pointed the security cameras toward the lift at the end of the hallway, so no one will ever know.

or Failed Foster
Yes, the foster family has notified me that they intend to keep Max as permanent member of their household. I am very pleased about it. I don't know if this will affect future possibilities for them to foster for me or not. Perhaps when Max is completely stable, they will still be willing and able to foster some other kittens for me. I am not going to worry about that now. I feel confident that this home is best for Max and he will have a very good life there. I am very happy that this special cat has a great forever home after his horrible ordeal.
I like this picture for this posting about Max because it gives me the feeling that he is in a place where he is comfortable and where HE feels he belongs. I was saving it particularly for this page if/when the foster family decided they were going to keep him. Below are other pictures all from the same visit the other day.
I was surprised to learn that people live in Tokyo already inhaled thousands times of radioactive materials than Chernobyl on March 15 without knowing it. The level of Cesium-137 was130Bq/㎥ in Tokyo on that day. He said that iInternal exposure is much more dangerous than external exposure but not many people aware of it. Assistant professor of Kyoto University talked about it in his lecture on April 29. If we were notified by the government, we could have avoided the internal exposure.
I have been notified by Flickr Administration that this photostream has now been labeled "moderate" as a result of a Flickr member reporting some photo of mine as offensive or whatever...
I am not the first one and I am not the only one in such a position - some of my best Flickr friends and contacts have gone through this in the past.
I strongly object to this kind of action. If someone, anyone, has a problem with any picture of mine - or anyone elese's for that matter - they should contact their author and state their objections and maybe convince that author to change the picture label himself.
On the other hand, Flickr Administration also should not take unilateral decisions without consulting with the Flickr members invollved first... and, also, in my humble opinion, they should refrain from labeling a whole photostream of about 4.000 pictures as "whatever" based on the content of a single picture.
For those interested in participating in an open discussion on this extremely important issue, I have opened a thread in the Flickr Help Forum:
People even have apps that help you exercise, meditate, remind you to drink water and so on. But, what do you have to do to practice for your Gate exam properly and get ready to the D-day? Well, there’s an app for that too. Gate app is free and available for iOS and Android devices. In fact, downloading the application to your device is a major step forward. The app notifies you about the latest news and information regarding the exam and academy itself. But, it does much more than that. Robin is a homeless woman in Louisville, Kentucky. (Age 68, according to her).. She was gainfully employed and had a home two years ago until her Mother whom she was caring for passed away. Her right leg became inflamed - she went to St. Mary's hospital. They amputated her leg. She did not have diabetes. She was denied disability by both her employer, Cafe Press, and the Social Security Administration disability office here in Louisville, Kentucky. She said she had an attorney who is "working on it". She states she had other items in a backpack that some kids had stolen. No cell phone.
This is next to a bus stop canopy where 3 individuals were sitting waiting for the bus.
She said prior to today Starbucks would not allow her inside - I did speak with Starbucks today and they stated she could go in while waiting for help from the Homeless Coalition of Louisville, who was notified. Starbucks (and their patrons) said they could not bring her any food.
Shiraz down the street offered a bottle of water but stated they would not let her in the store until they contacted the owner. I accepted the water for her and left.
McDonalds offered a fruit and yogurt parfait.
Smash Burgers manager gave $5 which we put toward some shampoo and deodorant and a Snickers bar from Walgreens (who gave us a discount) - these are what she'd said she needed at the moment.
Eastern Area Community Ministries gave the phone number for the Homeless Coalition although she states she's already been there. They offered to help her with food and additional resources but she had to get to their location. I could not fit Robin and her wheelchair in my car and it was a long way for Robin to wheel in the rain, uphill.
Matt Bevin, our Governor, is very proud of Kentucky. Not sure why. For shame, Mayor Fischer.
There were two other people in this area looking for help - one was a Veteran looking for work and had 2 kids at home, the other was a homeless man with a disabled son - they still had a car they were living in. I asked the Vet to keep an eye on Robin while I attempted to get her help - he said he would. I felt she was in very good hands - she was very appreciative of whatever help she received today. She was not there later in the afternoon.
Louisville's Homeless Outreach Team stated they would attempt to locate her - last contact was one year ago. They stated if they see her they would try to get her some McDonald's gift cards and a hygiene pack.
This corner has also been the favorite place for "The Lord's Kitchen Ministries" - www.thelordskitchen.com/ - that is where I'd spoken to a Veteran who was standing there - Richard Schuster - who'd stated he was also denied disability benefits. Richard said The Lord's Kitchen needed volunteers to help cook and serve at their facility.
As of today, December 18, 2018, I do not know Robin's status.

Hello friends,
I am working on a new step and I just want to notify people I love and care about that even though that I am away and staying far for them it doesn’t mean that I forgot them and that I don’t want them in my life. It is so no true. I just want you to know that I love spending time with you and that life is nothing without friendship. So I decided to develop management skills and work on both my goals and spending time with people who I love.
My advices to all of you:
Never take someone for granted, because someday you’ll be shocked knowing how much you hurt that person.
Forget your past, but learn from your mistakes and try not to repeat them. As they say, wise men don’t fall in the same hole twice.
Live in the present; do well to have a brightfull future.
Keep working on your future, and don’t miss a day of your life.
Work for your future as you’re going to live for ever, try to build a good reputation. Make new friends and always always keep educating yourself in order to be well informed ant up-to-dated.
Never take a day of your life for granted, imagine that everyday is your last day. Try to be good but remember no one is perfect.
Live, love, smile, and also you have to cry.
And most importantly, think TWICE before taking a new step.
Wish me luck with my new step ahead, and good luck to all of you..
Best regards,
Hamad Al-Failakawi
Pictured left to right, Sano, Barakesh, Ubbate
These warriors bear on their belts the marks of indentured slaves in Attenor. These three men each joined the Bullhorns to earn their freedom.
Barakesh is a Vieroccan that was born with a beast-like appearance and several physical deformities. His looks made him an outcast, and he exiled himself to the cliffs in the east of the Bloody March and frequently robbed and terrorized the locals. Eventually, he was captured by an angry mob and put into a cell. Afonso made a deal with the villagers to allow Barakesh to work off his sentence in the service of the Bullhorns. He doesn't have much in terms of brains, but he is always the first one to charge headlong into battle, using his body as a living weapon.
Sano and Ubbate were both prisoners of war from Kalaroccan villages south of Swakura. During the 729AV Attonight Offensive into Kalarocco, their village was captured by Imperial forces. The two of them put up an impressive fight, and the emperor was so impressed when he was informed of their skills that he imprisoned them rather than kill them. They were imprisoned in the Red Cells until Afonso petitioned to have them released into his service. Sano fights on his feet while Ubbate is most effective atop a horse. Though they are respected by Afonso, they are looked down on by other members of the tribe.
Their belts notify all that encounter them that they are dangerous and not to be trusted. They can only travel in the company of their superiors. These three rarely step out of line, because their alternative is life in a cell, or worse.
Some lovely 'Honeysuckle' 'Lonicera ..........' .. growing along the hedgerow..
HBW..!! thanks for looking.. have a great day..

'"Sister, sister, what dost thou twine ?
I am weaving a wreath of the wild Woodbine ;
I have streaked it without like the sunset hue,
And silvered it white with the morning dew :
And there is not a perfume which on the breeze blows
From the lips of the Pink or the mouth of the Rose,
That's sweeter than mine - that's sweeter than mine :
I have mingled them all in my wild Woodbine".
