It occurred to me that if a dog walker came by they might assume that I'd fallen, and drag me to my feet. Luckily, no one stumbled upon (or over) me.

Today the Hereios of the We're Here! group are marking the advent of Advent and especially the first day of handmade Advent Calendars. In this instance, finding Carl the fisherman behind the door was a bit of a letdown, though leaving the door open for a few minutes was a good thing in the long run.
Also known as The River.

The River, locally known as the Floozie in the Jacuzzi, is an artwork in Victoria Square, Birmingham, England.
An international design competition was held for a central water feature in the square, which was won by Dhruva Mistry. Construction commenced in 1992 and was completed in 1994, when the square was officially reopened by Diana, Princess of Wales.
Mistry's fountain is the largest sculptural piece in the square. Mistry's winning design for Victoria Square consists of four sets of works (named The River, Guardians, Youth and Object [Variations]), representing youth and eternity. The River features a 1.75-tonne bronze statue of a woman, 2.8 metres (9 ft) tall, 2.5 m (8 ft) wide and 4 m (13 ft) long. The surrounding pool is paved with Wattscliff sandstone. Engraved in the rim of the upper pool by Bettina Furneé are the following words from the poem Burnt Norton by T. S. Eliot:
And the pool was filled with water of sunlight,
And the lotos rose, quietly, quietly,
The surface glittered out of heart of light,
And they were behind us, reflected in the pool.
Then a cloud passed, and the pool was empty.

I know, it looks as though I'm grimacing because of her weight, but actually Imani-Lara Lansiquot is as light as a feather; it's just that her spikes were digging into my calf.
New building on the site of the old central library in Birmingham. I feel that the architect of the old library was unfairly criticised for its grimness: he'd intended that it be finished in granite but the City Council, in its wisdom, decided that would be too expensive.

This is Margot's mushroom on toast, today's brunch. Her cunning diet plan is to eat something mid-morning and skip lunch. There might be carbs and calories on this plate, though nothing to worry about.

We were both notified of the need to self-isolate yesterday morning. We have to stay at home until Thursday night. I'm not grumbling about this in itself; those are the rules and we'll observe them. But we deduced that the 'contact' with someone afflicted by the virus was when we went into a shop in a neighbouring village on Friday 30 October. That was the only place where we both signed in using a QR code. But the app doesn't know when we left. That could have been before the covid-sufferer entered. And to the best of my recollection everyone in the shop, including staff, was wearing a mask, so you'd think the risk would be minimal.
Oh well, Friday will be here soon enough and we'll make a point of going beyond the end of our drive; and at least we have a garden; this is not a good time for families living in flats.

Today the Hereios of the We're Here! group are tracking down number 13s. This is harder than one might expect: on modern housing estates nearby, they skip no. 13 to avoid the possibility of deterring a superstitious buyer.
