I’m crazy about pens . . . I have gel pens, erasable pens, green, blue, purple, red, pens from all over the world. I love writing notes. Now time to time I write notes to my patients. Not essays just a few words. But then again people more easily accept rudeness than kindness and believe in hate than love.

Do you cherish hand-written notes from friends, family, and co-workers…? Or "found" journals and diaries, to do lists, New Year’s resolutions, ancestry records in family Bibles, love notes, hand-written recipe cards, celebration cards, get well notes and sympathy cards, sweetheart letters, etc. etc. etc.? I have boxes of notes from loved ones (long gone) and often reread them.

Historians of the future will be poorly served by our current generations, which generate very few handwritten notes. Sure, we have e-mail, text and comments, but these notes are easily deleted! There's plenty of information generated on the Internet about life every day. But, the problem is we don't take the time to "document" and "save" our personal thoughts on what we think or how we live.

Today, perhaps sit down and hand write a note to someone or journal a special event in our life! It could be more than "Just a Note."

Note the tiny insect on one of the seeds.

The background bokeh is sugar maple leaves, in the city they tend to stay on the trees longer than in the rural surrounding areas, which are now pretty much devoid of leaves. This is a city garden near where I work.

Death Note

4/12/16 - Another day without much time for pictures, so I went back to my old accordian style post-it notes.

sketching and listening to the sermon in church....

1.) If you leave the house and realize you are dressed like one of Santa's elves, TURN YOURASS AROUND AND CHANGE!

2.) When bending completely forward and sticking your face into a wide angle lens, you look like a GOOBER!

3.) When bending completely forward and sticking your face into a wide angle lens, cover your CHIN with your scarf so you don't end up looking like JAY LENO! (Yep the other shots i had a total Jay Leno chin)

4.) When bending completely forward and sticking your face into a wide angle lens, MAKE SURE YOUR PANTS ARE PULLED UP because your arse-crack is blowing in the breeze!

5.) When bending completely forward and sticking your face into a wide angle lens, make sure there is a kick-ass photog around to laugh at you while you are making a total fool of yourself....it makes the day that much more fun!!!! Thanks SOOZ for letting me goof off with your lens!

Bring the car in before the ice storm!

(Photo note: The female Elephant Seals are a little cranky during this season. I would be also if I had to lie on the beach for 4-6 weeks (without food or water) in order shed all my old hair and skin.)

Elephant seals molt each year between April and August, shedding not only their hair but also the upper layer of their skin as well. This is known as "catastrophic molt". This “molting” process takes from four to six weeks per animal as they rest along the beaches. They return to rookery beaches for a few weeks while molting. Females molt in the spring, juveniles in the early summer, and adult males molt in the late summer. Source: The Marine Mammal Center (www.marinemammalcenter.org/)

Location: Most people in the World have never seen an Elephant Seal in the wild. This series will introduce you to the species at the Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery. The Piedras Blancas Rookery, on Highway 1 seven miles north of San Simeon on the California Central Coast, is home to about 17,000 animals.)

Note the factory correct pair of cute mini brackets. And what do you all think of the tint of the pix?

CHECK OUT THE Y-NOTES TAGG ON THE WALL IN THE BACKROUND

I just made this from a Moleskine Cahiers mini-note book, and I've already put it into play. There are 6 parts to a WUP - which can be any kind of notebook, pda, tape recorder - you just have to use it!

1. Carry it everywhere - memory faulty, pen and paper, reliable.

2. Scan - the world and write down what you see, without comment or judgement. Observe, don't judge.

3. Eavesdrop - listen to what people are talking about - live, radio, TV - don't judge, just listen, and write it down.

4. Ponder - read over what you've seen/heard and think about it. Write down some implications.

5. Talk about it - bounce your thoughts off others - everyone who matters - who are observing and interacting, too. Here's what I'm seeing/hearing/noticing - and kick it around together.

6. Do something about it! Stick out your neck and try something new.

The concept is from Radical Edge, by Steve Farber - excellent book on how to stoke your business, amp your life and change the world. How could I not want to do those three things?

You can visit the online version of my WUP here: earlg.vox.com !

The newest version of my Field Notes Storage Bin printed in Translucent Blue PLA 4043D from MakerGear. This print has pretty much swayed me over to PLA as my default print media.

I created this version for myself that has the field notes logo, I am in no way affiliated with Field Notes... I just love their products.

Here is an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again

The late Jerry Jacobson acquired former Buffalo Creek & Gauley No. 13 in 1993. It was last in steam in the late 1990s and now resides in the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum in Sugarcreek, Ohio. The initials BC&G below the cab denote the railroad's heritage. No. 13 also worked for the Kelly's Creek & Northwestern in West Virginia as No. 6 before being sold to the BC&C to 1954.
