This is not Siberia, Lapland or the Northpole, this is the national park the Oostvaardersplassen, just before Sunset and the Red deer colony have their second night in the snow, and more troublesome news for them, a strong cold front is on its way in the next couple of days
Pilarberget mountain in Svalbard, Norway, halfway from the Arctic circle to the North pole, at 8pm. The flat top is thought to be the result of erosion by glaciers during the Ice Age.
Frodo and Salty.
Frodo is possibly our most well balanced dog. He listens very well under all circumstances, never fights, has the most beautiful coat and luxuriant tail, a strong work ethic, is very social - a big lover; as comfortable on the couch as on the trail. He's so well balanced, I think it must be something about the ears :-)
Salty on the other hand, she's a real piece of work, but we love her just the same. As far as sledding qualities, she is our most consistent puller, highly motivated, 110%. She has a lot of the other Frodo qualities, the main difference and sometimes problem is she thinks very highly of herself. Maybe she runs so well in wheel because she's always trying to get a piece of her sisters up ahead of her.
Gloomy skies prevailed to start, but eventually the sun broke out, and we stayed dry. We had a great walk on Mt Pelly / Ovayok.

I don't think you can quite understand the pressure that comes with keeping up a certain persona. Not only the persona but the look. You know I'd never worn anything with pockets. I feel your pain all you ladies out there who want to a place for your loose change and keys.
And that belly. Like the bowl full of jelly. There's only so much one person can eat before your innards start to rebel and every kind of food you eat tries to kill you. You don't want to know the sort of things that were happening in there. Sounds and smells you would not believe could come from a body.
So I fixed it. Look at me. No longer will I have to grease myself up to fit down the chimney. Nor will my wardrobe be full of nothing but furry collars and great big boots. Although I do like the colour. It does bring out my eyes. I'm keeping that. But that list.
The naughty or nice list. There's all that grey area. So I will no be instituting a points system. Of course that does mean the penalties will be higher. Too many points and you're mine. Well where else do you think I get the new elves from?
