Seems like the North Pole, but this is ice being pushed against a dike by the current and wind creating "ice mountains" of several meters high. This is a rare sight and only happens after a severe period of frost.
Please press "L", much nicer.
After hour five on the boat, I started to feel a little wobbly. I went to the back of the boat to stare at the horizon and get some fresh air. That's when this Northern Fulmar joined me. He swooped down, flying at rocket speed to keep up with the boat, and was basically begging me to take his picture. It was a fun little photo sesh. :) Ten or so pictures later, he soared up and away, and our boat began to approach Longyearbyen.

Bones is beginning to get the hang of it. Carol and Dr.O found he was more relaxed with more water in the tank, since he was less likely to splash.

The second week of November has been declared as "Dear Santa Letter Writing Week". It is somewhat 'unofficial' but this week is designated as a good time for children to write their letters to Santa so they arrive at the North Pole. This gives Santa time to get the requests in order so his merry band of elves can get working (overtime) on the many, many presents they will have to prepare before Santa and the reindeer take off on Christmas Eve to deliver all those presents.
But, have we ever considered what it looks at at the North Pole as those letters begin to arrive? Let's peek into the dwelling of Mr. and Mrs. Claus to find out what it's really like...
"Oh, dear, it's THAT time of year again!" grunted Mrs. Claus. "Every time the mail arrives he's up in his room reading and rereading those letters."
Elf Hardrock signed in disgust. "I remember last year. That was tough. And it's going to be tougher this year. We're all going to be required to wear masks and keep social distancing in the workshop."
Elf Cocoa agreed. "This stinks. We didn't expect to make this year's Christmas that much harder. Why, I was hoping to get an earlier start this year knowing it was an election year. The economy has been going good."
"You're right about that, but not in the right places," Elf Hardrock retorted. "We should have been preparing Personal Protective Equipment. But do you think the children are going to want that? No way! They would much rather be in class with their friends in school and having playtime fun."
Mrs. Claus agreed. "Yes, this year things will not be as cheerful. But, that doesn't take away what the real message of Christmas is all about. It seems there are forces in the world that would want Christmas simply disappear. But I know Santa. He's going to do what it takes to keep Christmas an important time of year."
They all look at the large sack on the floor. Mrs. Claus said, "Okay you two. Rock-Paper-Scissors as to who gets to do Santa's dirty laundry."
