Card catalog at the Boston Public Library

I debated posting this in black and white with a sepia overlay (as above) or the original colour. This seems to fit the era better, but the rather haphazard and mismatched look is lost a little, I think. Each drawer was its own colour with a unique handle.

LOBB (Large on black background)

Shot in Bordeaux at the Chateau de Haux, France.

Equipment used is a Nikon D300 with a 16-85/3,5-4,5 lense on ISO100 at f/5,0 and 1/200th shutter speed.

Processed in Lightroom, Photomatix and Photoshop (Nik Software graduated filters, noiseware pro, topaz adjust and finally some sharpening).

Haven't had much time to take snowflake images this year. Happened to find some nice ones on my van and could pass up the chance to capture some of them!

On my way up to the mountain top Grytfoten in the mountain range The Seven Sisters, in Northern-Norway. I came across this waterfall of fresh, clean and delicious (drinkable) mountain water. Sorry about the frame, but it was necessary this time, to separate the image borders and the background colour of Flickr.

We hoped for a nice sunset on the Narew River but it was not to be. The weather was a usual average crap with lots of clouds.

We also packed a ton of food for a homeless cat which is usually lurking there and who never fails to pop out like a devil from a box when attracted by the sound of my car engine.

There was no sunset but the cat was there. And it was a very happy cat that evening.

Edited in OnOne Perfect Photo Suite 9 (B&W module) + light textures applied in Layers and touched up with NIK Color Efex Pro.

Here are my two submissions for my 3rd week at Garth Olwg on my Photography Course. Looking down the valley towards Blackmill, south Wales.

The topic this week was 'Landscapes' !

Our moon on the spring equinox. Converted to mono in Silver Efex Pro. Split toning, cropping and sharpening applied in Lightroom.

Here's to some longer, warmer days...!

Sunset over a Great Lake (Lake Ontario)

When you're weary, feeling small,

When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;

I'm on your side. When times get rough

And friends just can't be found,

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will lay me down.

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will lay me down.

I use NIK Software's Capture NX2 for my photo editing, so I was showing a friend how quick this was to edit, it was basically SOOC, except for the following steps:

1) Black and White points

2) Levels and Curves

3) Sat on tatt

4) Sharpen - I don't use in-camera sharpening

5) Color Profile changed for web - set from Adobe RGB in-camera, but converted to sRGB IEC61966-2.1

6) Upload

Two minutes, max .

Actually, my point was to illustrate to my friend that if you prep and plan your shoot upfront the post work is really quick. Sarah also did an awesome make-up job, so nothing had to be done on her.
