„LA DIAVOLEZZA“ - DIE SCHÖNE TEUFELIN
Da oben hauste vor vielen Jahren eine wunderbare Bergfee. Sie lebte in ihrer Felsenburg hoch oben zwischen Chapütschöl und Munt Pers, dort wo – eingefasst von Felsentürmen und grossen Geröllhalden- mitten in einer blumenbedeckten Bergweide, ein tiefblauer See die Sonne widerspiegelt, dort wo ganze Rudel von munteren Gämsen sich tummeln und im saftigen Gras weiden, dort wo die Berghühner gackern, hochfliegen, dann im elegantem Gleitflug landen, um zu weiden und weiter zu gackern, dort wo die Schneehasen mit offenen Augen träumen und schliesslich aufgeschreckt in gestrecktem Galopp davon sausen.
Das herrliche Weib wurde nur selten und flüchtig von Jägern erblickt und mit Vorliebe dann bestaunt, wenn sie über die Felsbände des Munt Pers zum „Lej da la Diavolezza“ hinüberwechselte, um dort ein erfrischendes Bad zu nehmen. Dann allerdings wurden die jungen Jäger ganz vernarrt und unvorsichtig. Sie folgten ihr, die stets von ihrer Gämsherde bewacht war, über die Felsgänge bis hinüber zu ihrem Felsenschloss.
Was dann dort geschah, das weiss man nicht, man ahnt es nur. Ein Jäger nach dem anderen verschwand und verlor sich am Munt Pers (verlorener Berg). So auch Aratsch, ein stattlicher Jüngling aus dem Dorf. Er kehrte von der Jagd nicht mehr zurück. Überall wurde vergeblich nach ihm gesucht und schliesslich musste man annehmen, er sei auch in die Gletscherbrüche am Pers gefallen oder irgendwo abgestürzt. Denn wer bis Einbruch der Nacht sich in der Region des Bernina-Massivs aufhielt, hörte, vom Winde getragen, die Klagestimme der Diavolezza, die ausrief: „mort ais Aratsch“ (Aratsch ist tot).
Das erzählte man sich von Generation zu Generation und nannte dann die schöne Alp im Kessel der Berninagruppe Alp Morteratsch. Aber die Diavolezza hatte keine Ruhe bis nicht der Gletscher vorrückte und die ganze Alp bis hinunter ins Tal mit Eis und Geröll zugedeckt war. Dann verliess sie die Gegend mit dem Klageruf: „davent dal Munt dal Pers“ und wurde nie mehr gesehen.

This is my favorite image that I have taken. I like the sweep of the goats, The Sheppard with his stick raised gazing at the oncoming train. all the elements create a tension between the age old herding of goats and the modern world of trains and cars.

Nature’s Beauty
Photographing the Pismo Dunes Natural Preserve, Oceano, San Luis Obispo County, California with the Eclectic Meet Up Group. It was a great day with beautiful weather and a few clouds and super friends.
An abstract ice formation on one of the rocks beside the waterfall at the Loup of Fintry in Scotland. Ice stacked upon ice upon rock.
I had visited this site with my friend, Kevin Wallace, between Christmas and New Year. While the waterfall itself is stunning, I was also very much taken by the abstract ice formations on the nearby rocks - very beautiful.
A mono conversion in Silver Efex Pro was coloured using Split Toning in Lightroom.
Quite a colorful show on the final Sunrise before the Winter Solstice occurred. Five exposure HDR processed with Nik HDR Efex Pro 2
this one from the archive if colour prints taken when i worked in Taif KSA in the early 80's captured using the camera and edited with NIK Silver Efex Pro.

Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord Chapel
I captured this image on August 1, 2007 on a 3 week Alaskan photographic vacation of the Kenai Peninsula. This trip also included a train ride to Denali and a visit to inside the park. We also saw most of the Peninsula. There are far too many stories to tell for now. To say the least it was a Photographic Vacation of a Lifetime. On one day we drove from Nikiski to Homer along the Sterling Highway and found this Russian Orthodox Church in Ninilchik. The church was built in 1901. On Feb. 28, 2013 I took a relook at the image and after 5 ½ years with new techniques and knowledge I Repost Processed this image. I’m now beginning to have the tools and knowledge to bring to fruition the vision I have for my images. Meanwhile I keep experimenting and learning. There is always so much more to know.
I re-edited my yellow dahlia photo. I have had many likes from the photo club I belong to and I believe I like it too. NIK software, sepia tones.
This is supposed to be simulated hand to hand medieval combat, but boys will be boys and with elevated testosterone and adrenaline levels in this second go around, NOBODY pulled the sword strikes. It was incredible to watch and so incredibly real. This was the place to watch the battle from . The noise, the clang of sword on shield, and the very real curses, bring home the lethality of war in any era.
