We were lucky enough to have the sky clear for a little bit last night and we have decided to take advantage of it and go to shoot some stars.. The coyotes were quite vocal around us and it was a bit weird being there in the darkness. I am so lucky to have my husband go out with me. I think I would be too big of a chicken to go out by myself...

The Barman attends to his duties while the patrons wine, dine and read or engage in chatter! Another in my 'photo-realist' series, many taken at the extraordinary Exclusive Books bookshop and eatery in Hyde Park Centre. I have taken many shots there for three reasons: 1. It speaks to the remarkable affluence of upper-class South Africans, in contrast to the ever-present ambient poverty. 2. It is a 'brick and mortar' bookstore the likes of which no longer are to found in, for instance, major cities in the 'Anglo-sphere'. 3. Its interior architectural refurbishment has become famous and is looked at in awe by visiting architects and interior designers. Finally, the management is wonderfully hospitable. I'd like to thank them for encouraging me to indulge my photographic art!

High in the Central Oregon Cascades, on a moonless summer night at Broken Top Mountain.

Very best wishes to all my contacts and visitors!

Plenty of photo-opps these days, every neighbourhood house has become a Xmas tree and the village lighting competes with Times Square or Vegas :) ))

The realistic version, without 'creative abuse' in post-process. I think it's festive enough?

Last night, after the Rowdies win over Memphis (!), they put in a very impressive fireworks show. Height of the display may have been limited, since most of the fireworks stayed low. This presented beautiful colorful clouds of smoke that I hadn’t seen before. The inclusion of the palm trees and harbor in the background were bonuses for me. I’m only posting two of my photos from last night, but I had many choices for favorites. Good job, Rowdies!

"Night Wheelin" Fresh photograph taken just this passed weekend at the Old Stone Mill in Brewster. Had my favorite type of skies; partly cloudy. I'll be heading back there when things get a little greener.

Maligne Lake is located south of Jasper. This little house the beside the dock of the rental canoes. It was a cloudy night covering most of the sky most of the night. I guess it knew I was there shooting since 6PM waiting for the clear sky. So it did give me this moment of a pretty clear chance to shot the milky way.

Random shots from a night out in Copenhagen...

Retake of Upstream which I photographed a year ago in Ginza, Tokyo.

This time there is an image of night sea in my mind.

Those waves are dimly lit by the lighthouse and pleasing sound of the sea still comes up to my ears

because I've just visited lovely fishing village and headland near Tokyo on the previous day.

(Fish dishes were too nice to take pictures over there..)

This footbridge crosses Petty's Brook which is a tributary of the River Loddon (which in turn is a tributary of the River Thames), Petty's Brook is a small stream that flows through Chineham. Footpaths run for much of its length and it provides an attractive amenity in the area as well as a haven for wildlife. On occasion, the brook gets blocked by rubbish and overgrown plants.

The normal level of the Petty's Brook in average weather conditions is between 0.22m and 0.34m. It has been between these levels for at least 175 days in the past year. The usual range of the Petty's Brook in more extreme weather conditions is between 0.26m and 1.25m. It has been between these levels for 90% of the time since monitoring began. The highest level ever recorded at the Petty's Brook at Chineham is 1.27m, recorded on Friday 20th July 2007 at 10:30am.

Chineham is a civil parish in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. It is situated about 5 kilometres northeast of central Basingstoke, just north of the A33 road between Basingstoke and Reading. The population of Chineham in 2011 was 9,240 in 3,875 households.

The current parish was established in 1986, but the manor is much older and was first recorded in the Domesday Book as Chineham in Basingestoch Hundred – Hantescire in 1086.

The name may suggest a farm or enclosure, though Coates suggests a derivation from the Old English 'cinu' which means a 'ravine or rift', which may refer to the way that the Basingstoke-Reading railway line passes between low hills in the vicinity, and implying that Chineham means 'rift estate'.

Chineham today is predominantly a residential area with good road links to Basingstoke, Reading and the M3 motorway. The area is well served with local amenities, including: Chineham District Centre, with supermarkets, shops and a public library (but no ATM); Four Lanes Community Infant and Junior Schools; Great Binfields Primary School; Christ Church (interdenominational), built in 1987 and significantly extended in 2004; Chineham Medical Practice (local health centre) and two dental practices; a free monthly community magazine Chineham Chat distributed to all households; Chineham Village hall, and the Chineham Arms (local pub) and a regular bus service to Basingstoke town centre.
