Every time it snows I get this view right out the back of my house. Definitely getting more of this guy.
Largely ignored because of it’s proximity to me, I’m finding with a simple shift in mindset that there is plenty of interesting things near to me than previously considered.

I shot this at Svinafellsjoküll. Initially I wanted a shot showing the different Ice layers but then I noticed that a group of people were ice climbing in the distance.

The day before I took this shot we hiked up a mountain that was used in the Lord of the Rings as a filming location in the Wanaka region. From the top of the mountain we had a marvellous view on lake Wanaka and specially on Glendhu bay. We saw these trees in the water from the top and we decided that we had to shoot them. It was getting late and the sun was setting over the southern Alps, so we decided to go the next day. We camped in our car and the next morning we drove to where we suspected the trees to be. It turned out to be quiet a challenging way as we had to climb over a couple of electric fences and the terrain was incredibly swampy and wet. Eventually we arrived and we were wet and tired, but I think that it was definitely worth it. It's funny how sometimes you go somewhere and you end up discovering a shot that you couldn't have planed, that has nothing to do with your initial destination.
