On February 24, 2018; two days before the U.S. Supreme Court hears a case that could intervene in the ability of working people to stick together in strong unions, the billionaires, corporations and special interest groups behind Janus v. AFSCME Council 31 faced a massive wave of protests across the country. Demonstrating unrelenting opposition to attacks on working people, families, women and people of color, tens of thousands of people will march together to defend their basic freedoms. This is a little letter to myself today... Sometimes life is going to nip at your feet. It will annoy the crap out of you until you are standing in a pool of your own blood. In that instance, just learn to enjoy the pain. Enjoy the struggle. Because sometimes there is nothing better than getting done with a 20 mile run to find your shoes soaked with blood. As odd as it is, it's fulfilling. The more pain you endure the stronger you grow as a person. So here's my advice to myself.. love the pain and dance in the rain. Because struggles will always be there. Every morning when you wake up you have a conscious decision to make... there is an infinite amount of information being thrown about throughout the world. But you control how you see things... .. There is an old Cherokee legend that I've come to love. An old grandfather is telling his grandson about life. He tells him that within every individual there is a fight going on between two wolves. One wolf manifests itself in negative energy... fear, sorrow, inferiority.. the other manifests itself in positive energy... faith, love, compassion.. ..
