This photo shows a large view of the Killdeer nest site viewed from the north side with the Killdeer present on the nest eggs and the yellow sandbags placed upslope by me to show where the Killdeer nest site was located.
Note the stake with the green flag, a few yards to the right of the Killdeer on the nest, closest to the black tarpaulin border as a future reference.
I love to feed the birds and am always inspired by Nature so really enjoyed painting this nest in acrylic paint.
Poor sleepy kidlet. I felt guilty that we left him alone long enough that he built himself such an elaborate nest.
We made sure to do lots of fun kidlet-things that day.

This Great tit was picking the lichen of the branches of the tree. Maybe it's making its nest for the spring.

This is our second Cardinal nest this summer. This one is in front of our house, just outside our bay window.
A strange structure near where I live. The original photo was pretty unattractive, so tried some more extreme editing with it colour-wise.

Beautiful tubular extractors, into big collectors. Wish they had been able to fire it up, I'd have loved to hear it!

The very first sculpture to be placed at the Arboretum
is this intricate metal nest and eagle by Richard Moffat,
acquired for the site by ActewAGL.Nest measures over 3 metres in height and diameter. It is welded from metal objects collected from around the farms of the South Coast – a historical record in itself because it incorporates identi!able parts from old machinery, metal tools and even a small boat propeller and anchor.
