From Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. June 2010. Nest of a small species of wasp common throughout the islands called, "Boonie Bees."
Some mockingbirds built a nest right outside my house - the two babies moved out before I got my camera, but the nest remains
Newer street signs lack the ability to support life like this classic Los Angeles "Shotgun" street sign where a sparrow has decided to nest.
Not sure if it's really abandoned, but it looks a bit weather beaten. I could've cropped this tighter, but I like the rusty nail too.
Inside the abandoned pumphouse at the Hammonton Lake.

"Freckled nest-eggs thou shalt see
Hatching in the hawthorn-tree,
When the hen-bird's wing doth rest
Quiet on her mossy nest."

I have tried for 3 days to get a shot of these chicks in the nest. When mom goes off to find food I stand on a chair and with the camera over my head pointing at the nest (well some of the time it's not, lol). Today I succeeded. There seems to be one fat chick and one little chick tucked right down on the right hand side. As quite a few members asked if I would try to get shots of the chicks, here they are!!
SOOC , hand held over my head, on macro but couldn't see to focus - lucky shot!!
I stopped at the Morningside nest to check out this bald eagle busy preparing (we hope) for the arrival of little ones soon. (Zoom in to see the bird.)
A termite nest on the tour of the mangroves along Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. The little bugs tasted a little like peanuts!

This photo shows a large view of the Killdeer nest site viewed from the north side with the Killdeer present on the nest eggs and the yellow sandbags placed upslope by me to show where the Killdeer nest site was located.
Note the stake with the green flag, a few yards to the right of the Killdeer on the nest, closest to the black tarpaulin border as a future reference.
Liir surprised me with a bubble nest this morning! He was SO proud, showing it off, darting back and forth. So cute!
I love to feed the birds and am always inspired by Nature so really enjoyed painting this nest in acrylic paint.
A termite nest in a tree. The build it high so it won't get flooded. Unfortunatly for them, anteaters can climb trees. Anteaters will only eat about half of the nest of termites though and will let them rebuild so they have a food source later.
