Visually, the modern nerd is highly distinctive and is easily recognized by its IRC handle. The modern nerd, particularly of the male variety, is one of the most widely recognized internet personalities in human culture.
Throughout history, depictions of nerds have existed from the Upper Paleolithic period, with carvings and paintings from the Lascaux and Chauvet Caves, through virtually all ancient and medieval cultures where they historically occurred. The nerd has been extensively depicted in literature, in sculptures, paintings, books, in contemporary film and, most importantly, on the internet.
The modern nerd finds him or herself most at ease in a programming development environment. In his or her communication efforts, though, an IRC chat room gives him or her comfort, inspiration, and a sense of community.

I dug out my old box of Legos for my daughter and I to play with and I ended up recreating the castle using instructions I downloaded from the 'net.
Zachary Levi created this immediate hotspot of an offsite event, named The Nerd Machine, and Nerd Headquarters was located at the Jolt'n Joe's on 4th & J. His purpose was to raise funds for the Smile Operation charity where fans can donate $20 to see their favorite actor(s) in an intimate setting (200 people max). I only went to this one event with Jared Padalecki as the guest, and fans asked questions for an hour. Zachary was there to moderate, but just let the fans do all the questioning. It was a complete success for Zachary and he was able to raise $40k for the charity.
The purchase of the ticket was on a first come first serve basis and since I was the 12th person to purchase a ticket for this event, I had the 12th seat, which happened to be about 2 seats right of center. FAAAAN-tastic!
