Taste Of London probably needs no introduction but I’ll give you a quick one just in case! Essentially a food and drink festival that celebrates food and drink in all its myriad, magnificent and miraculous forms - Taste Of London puts a big focus on the capital's (almost limitless) restaurant scene. The setting/backdrop is the glorious green expanse of Regents Park - where you shall find many thousands of exhibitors (from tiny independents all the way up to huge international chains) and even more people who have come from all over the country to see what the hell the fuss is all about.
What to do here? Imbibe, ingest and expend (yup). For example, here you have the opportunity to taste the signature dishes from some of the city’s most exclusive restaurants in rapid succession (well, if you've got the crowns to do it - the Taste festival's fiat currency). There's also masterclasses, demos, live music, free samples galore, and the chance to buy nice things to take home at a deep discount. It's a LOT of stuff in one (large) place - in fact, to really experience the extent of it you would probably need to spend multiple days here. Which is both fine and doable because it’s a multi day festival -and no day is exactly the same.
Highlights from this year include a large, Pilsner Urquell tent - full of delicious tank beer, delicious tank people (uh) and delicious non tank burgers paired to with said beer. Also worth a mention are the lovely people at Les Dauphines, who we usually end up spending what’s left of the evening with - whilst imbibing what’s left of that Côtes du Rhône. Paris, the capital of France and the city of lights, needs no introduction because it is almost synonymous with elegance and beauty. The main reason for my layover in France in November 2024 was to visit the famed Orsay Museum or Musée d'Orsay, which I had not visited before. Orsay Museum is probably the second most popular art museum to visit in Paris after the Louvre. It houses a large collection of French art. The Impressionist collection is particularly impressive.
Since the museum features such a large collection of art, I chose a few that made a strong impression on me to show in this online album. This shows the Bathers with a Red Cow and Baigneuses aux nénuphars paintings inside the Orsay Museum / Musée d'Orsay in Paris, France.
