The protest is in solidarity with movements across the country that began on Wall Street in New York City on September 17th. The participants in a nationwide campaign called Occupy Together rail against corporate greed at the expense of the American Dream. Demonstration began on Wall Street in Asheville, NC, followed by a march through downtown Asheville and continues in Pritchard Park.

Special Athletes With Special Needs Get Rock Star Treatment
It has become an April tradition in Cullman for special needs athletes to compete at Oliver Woodard Stadium on the campus of Cullman High School.
This year the event was renamed to reflect the gatherings new focus and support intentions: Cullman Area Special Needs Field Day
Field Day began around 9 am with approximately 150 athletes gathering at the stadium along with hundreds of volunteers, family members, friends and special needs supporters from around Cullman.
The event officially opened with the on-foot arrival of the Field Day Torch carried by 25 law enforcement personnel from the Cullman Police Department and the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.
The Torch was lit at the Cullman County Courthouse and transported to the Stadium as part of the 2017 Cullman Community Torch Run.

Sheriff Matt Gentry led the procession of runner armed with the Torch onto the Oliver Woodard track where they took a lap with athletes Justin Fenner, Hunter Haynes and Karsyn McWaters.
