These days, I need my electric wheelchair to get here, but it's worth the trouble. I equate photography with trying to capture your emotional response to something. I still haven't managed it yet, but I keep coming back here and trying again. I'm a middling photographer so I probably won't succeed, but that doesn't matter. Every return reminds me that I can transcend pain and disability, and live in the moment, however briefly that is. When I pass, my idea of heaven would be living in this barn with every dog and cat that I've ever loved. People would be allowed short visits, but only those who like animals. I'm not sure the other type of people will get into heaven. And as this is my heaven, I'm making an executive decision, they don't get in. I'm not sending them to hell either, but perhaps somewhere like purgatory or Bingley. Not forever, I'd be the first to admit that eternity in Bingley is a little on the extreme side, but just long enough for them to reflect on the error of their ways.

I was kept home, busy at work for months. Still do not see when I could be out shooting somewhere.. So I looked some old photos long time ago and had a little fun myself.
This was taken in 2013 spring, when I knew little about photography. I happened to shoot this scene at the right time, although it was a little hazy that day.

For a subdivision that offers quite the views as a photographer, the Oregon Trunk sub in Central Oregon can also test the patience of photographers as train traffic averages less than 5 in a 24 hour period. With the lack of train traffic, the remoteness of this route between Wishram, Washington and Chemult, Oregon also gives negative affects to photographers as it's difficult to access most points because of private and tribal land along the 200+ mile route. If you're lucky to find one in the day time it sure can be a rewarding show to watch as they climb out of the Columbia River Gorge in Wishram, Washington to Chemult, Oregon which is the highest point of the line at 4765ft above sea level. Here a Pasco to Fresno, California manifest crosses the Crooked River just north of Redmond, Oregon enroute to Bend, Oregon for a crew change.

G66 trundles by the local garden supply dealer in Turin on the way south to Senoia. On a chilly February afternoon, would have been a good day to put some of their firewood to good use later.

A shot i forgot about completely from earlier this month of the Pan Am OCS tied down on the Newington Industrial Track Causeway. As top brass enjoy dinner on the water, a large ship is seen being escorted down the river while plenty of automobiles pass on the high level bridge in the background. Multiple modes of transportation in one setting i thought made for an excellent sight
The need to visit this particular place came to me, while i was studying the cable car railway to the Janikowo soda plant. When tracing its route going from Janikowo we first see the station, where carts were separated between Inowrocław and Janikowo, then it crosses a lake and continues through the fields towards the Bielawy quarry. There is a catch however, as the cable car railway stops some 2 kilometers before the actual quarry/cement plant. How have I not noticed this before?
But the curiosities don't stop there. Naturally the cable cars have to get their load somehow, and to my great surprise and utmost amazement - this is done with a standard railway, which runs here from the cement plant, at a length of around 2,5km. At the end, the wagons are unloaded and the load is transferred to the cable car. Crazy!
I dug deeper. As it turns out, the station is reffered to as K1 (which is why I jokingly call it Masherbrum) and I found many reports of former workers, who talked about the railway on various forums. But... no pictures from here existed! The industry enthusiasts photographed the transloading facility itself, some bus-lovers shot pictures of busses with the station and cable car, which served as a background, but seemingly no railfan has ever step foot here. That made me curious, maybe the train doesn't run in the end? Checking areal photos from the place out of 3 different sources I found around 20 shots taken across the span of the past 15 years. Only around half of them had any traffic on this station, maybe that was why, maybe this doesn't run very often...
Nevertheless, me and a friend of mine from the region embarked on a journey. We came in the morning and... there it was, a train was just unloading on the station! Our excitement was short-lived though, as our car's tire had burst before we even reached it, which stopped us significantly. But no matter. It turns out that the train had been here for the rest of the day. It looks as if they only unloaded one wagon each hour (or even fewer). I think the train comes here only every 2 days and stays here for unloading.
To connect all the dots, as in the title, I need to add on another bit of information, which was also very interesting to me. The reports of workers, which I had mentioned earlier talk about EL2 locomotives being used to bring the cargo wagons here. Sure enough, one of the former catenary pylons is hiding just behind the locomotive on this picture, as the train is leaving K1 towards the quarry, headed by SM42-2083. Some of the pylons even retained their original designations and each one of them is marked with the designation "K1". I think this is the first picture published on the internet, which features this place and a train.
One last thing are the wagons. They are only used on this line and they are made up of the type 41W, which were manufactured in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski (1952-1959) and Wrocław (1960-1964). The factories each had their own little details on carriages and this helped me determine that both the producers supplied the wagons to this industrial railway. My rough estimate is that the plant currently has around 100 such wagons in use, and they only are used for internal transports to K1.

The need for an image to post weekly on the blog motivates me to pick up the camera even when life seems busy and full with other things as it is now. With bright sun and wind on Hay Bay, I tried some in-camera double exposure ICM images using the darks blend mode.

Sometimes all you need is luck or patience. And sometimes you just have to try over and over again untill you get the desired result.
In this case it was probably a combination of both. The sky was burning up as it regularly does in November. And this time a tank car train came exactly at the right moment and was running in the right direction..
I had a feeling of sheer joy when I, after several attempts, finally had the desired result...
