I've already posted this two years ago when it was taken but I felt like I needed to post something (I can't live without flickr :) )
So yeah, I'm in London right now, the first week (of two) has gone really quickly. I don't know if I could say that I'm enjoying it. Well, of course I AM, but I also want to go back home. I don't know, I guess it's because I feel a bit lonely here, I don't know anyone and the people at the school (I'm attending a 2 weeks English course) are nice but... I guess it takes a while to get to know each other, it's kind of difficult to talk when it's not in your own language (I'm finding that REALLY REALLY hard, mostly because in Spain they teach us a lot of grammar and we know how to write BUT we don't practice speaking and even though I always thought that if you knew how to write then you'd know how to speak... I was totally wrong). I guess two weeks is not enough time to start talking fluently... but on the other side I'm glad I'm only here for 2 weeks because I want to go to Spain again. It's a contradiction, really.
I've taken some photos, not all the photos I'd like to because for some reason I'm a bit scared to 'show' the camera (as in carrying it around my neck). I don't get it out of my bag too much (and again a contradiction) I'm regretting it! but I can't help it!
I've already visited Hyde Park (again), the Buckingham Palace, Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar square, Notting Hill (have to go back because didn't take pics), Kesington, the British Museum... and I'm planning on going to Camden Town and Brighton this weekend.
Anyone wants to recommend me where to go? (apart from the typical touristic places everyone visits).
So that's my nonsense review of my week. Hope you're all well and if I don't update before... see you in a week!

Leaving a bit early from work last night happy as a bird until I saw who had parked in front of me and left for their midnight donut snack and coffee.
There was a forklift to the left and for a fraction of a second I thought I´d use that to move their van outta the way.
The next second I calmed down and followed the donut smell and found the three parking culprits and asked them politely to move their car.

Phoenix Comicon and Kids Need to Read hosted Drinks with Authors. This event provided an opportunity for Comicon members to meet their favorite writers in an informal atmosphere and have a glass or two while discussing all things literary. There were raffles, door prizes and other giveaways from our participating publishers.
Hugo-award winning author, Mary Robinette Kowal, was typing original short stories for people while they waited on a 1920’s Royal typewriter with the rare Royal Deco type. The proceeds benefited Kids Need to Read.

Nicholas Parenteau, a CUSO Cooperant, waters raised beds by hand on the NEED-Burma model organic farm near Chiang Mai. This farm was set up by the NGO to teach organic farming principles to farmers from Burma, many of whom have lost traditional farming knowlege due to strong state control of crops, fertilizers and pesticides.
NEED-Burma is the Network for Environment and Economic Development, a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that operates out of its head office in Chiang Mai, Thailand. NEED has been in operation since March of 2006. They are an inclusive network that is non-ethnic specific, with the mission: to work towards strengthening Burmese civil society so that all the people of Burma may benefit from the practice of endogenous and holistic development strategies, based on economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable ideas.

Thank you so very much for your interest in volunteering with us! We can certainly use your help! Please mark your calendars for our cleanup of the Historic Bread and Cheese Creek on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Rain or Shine, we clean up the section of Historic Bread and Cheese Creek from the Berkshire Area to North Point Road. Registration will be at 2408 Plainfield Road, Dundalk, MD 21222. This event will be run in conjunction with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay’s Annual Project Clean Stream and American River’s Nation River Cleanup as well as Reclaim the Bay! We have also attached an event flyer for your use.
We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We welcome every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we need people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to help at registration, setup food and snacks as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. We will provide lunch and snacks as well as gloves. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but suggest bringing your own if you have them
Volunteers are also needed to arrive early and stay late for setup and break down. Photographers and Videographers also needed!

Needed to post something bright and colourful today, especially as it has been snowing and was -15C (wind chill -23C) when I went out this morning! These dainty little blue flowers are growing in the Butterfly House at the Calgary Zoo. I like the way they are two shades of blue and have a "spoon" shape. Need to get a less "messy" photo another time.
Just found the ID for this flower: Clerodendrum myricoides 'Ugandense'. Comes from Tropical Africa.

A customer picked up the seeds from the floor of their local village hall. Curious, she sowed them. These are the young seedlings, which have not matured yet, nor have they flowered. The plants looked a lot like Salad Burnet, but the seeds don't.
