Original mixed media painting on 18" x 24" framed wood panel. The sign is a piece of cardboard and mounted to the wood giving it an authentic feel. Made for the "Nature Controls All" art show at the Jeff Claassen gallery downtown SLO.

Needed a big splash of bright colour to post in between the other two photos for today, LOL. It's been a gorgeous day today, with a continuation of the spectacular hoar frost we've had the last few days - plus sunshine! Decided to drive just south of the city this morning to enjoy seeing a blue sky for a change. By the afternoon, the hoar frost had disappeared. We are in for a few "warmer" days ahead, thank goodness.

One BCD member is an avid collector and expert of Salmon Academy jigsaws and writes frequently for the BCD magazine on the subject. These Salmon Academy puzzles carry adverts on their inside lids for the 6d monthly 'Meccano Magazine - The World's Best Magazine for Boys' (presumably girls need not apply). Meccano Magazine was an English monthly hobby magazine published by Meccano Ltd between 1916 and 1963, and by other publishers between 1963 and 1981. The magazine was initially created for Meccano builders, but it soon became a general hobby magazine aimed at "boys of all ages". From the May 1924 issue, the magazine had full-colour covers, and the December 1924 issue was 96 pages, costing six pence. By the 1930s Meccano Magazine had a circulation of 70,000.

Salmon Academy range boxes advertised jigsaws from 50 to 2000pc, with over 1300 titles, the firm making jigsaws from 1920 uptil the late 1950s, with a break during WWII. The earliest jigsaws were cut from solid wood with thick chunky pieces and the boxes often carried the text 'A Charming watercolour'. The company is still in business as a maker of postcards, calendars and prints.
"Salmon is the oldest established post card and calendar publisher in Britain. The company was founded in 1880 when Joseph Salmon, who had been a bookseller in London, acquired a stationer’s shop with a general printing business at 85 High Street, Sevenoaks in Kent. He continued the business in its existing form until, in 1898, his son, also Joseph Salmon, took over when his father retired.
By 1890, Joseph had become interested in the potential of printing and publishing pictorial post cards and produced a collection of twelve black and white post cards of Sevenoaks and district. This was followed, by a small collection of coloured post cards of local scenes. Such was the success of these early cards that in a very few years the range had been widened to include comic cards. Around 1912 Joseph Salmon also started to publish post cards featuring the work of Alfred Robert Quinton, a famous association that was to last until the artist’s death in 1934.
Also at this time Salmon started to publish a small series of local view pictorial calendars with coloured illustrations of English scenes, towns and regions. The earliest calendars were in a turnover style although as techniques developed both turnover and panel style calendars were produced in increasing numbers.
By the end of the First World War, the business had outgrown its original site and a new factory was built in Sevenoaks. With subsequent additions and extensions this site has remained at the heart of the business ever since and now houses the printing works, sales office, stock warehousing and despatch operations.
The company has remained in the ownership of the Salmon family and today is run by Charles and Harry Salmon, the fifth generation of the family to be involved in the business.
Salmon is proud to say that its product range is still entirely printed in Britain at its site in Sevenoaks. Recent investment in both printing presses and other production equipment ensures that this will carry on as the company’s product range continues to develop and expand. Post cards and calendars remain at the core of the company's publishing but other product ranges include guide books, gift books, recipe books, greeting cards, notecards, prints, placemats, diaries and other associated items."

Needed a simple way to take group shots with my large format and have me in the photo as well. Found this Gem on the bay and it works like a charm. Now any of my cameras that accept a cable release can use this timer. Pretty nifty. Plus it has the added bonus of being insanely loud so you can tell when it's finished :)
I need 10-15 of these, with or without hubs (if you have them with hubs the hub must be grey).

Desperately needing to get outside when the sun finally appeared after some heavy morning rain, I took a break from work to quickly drive here so I could get 10 mins of fresh air and then drive back. It's crazy but it keeps me happy! Anyway, not long after I took this a very friendly, very muddy lab came around the bend and jumped up, leaving me with a muddy jacket and face. :)
I updated my Wood Camera app so I decided to edit a few shots with it to see what they added. I like it, I've been using other apps lately but Wood Camera has its own charms, too.
Do you need to protect your land against some annoying dragon? Your neighbor’s castle is still not conquered? Do you need some serious artillery on the battlefield?
Call a band of dwarfs engineers! They and their ballista will figure out any issue which you have! :)
Few words regarding construction. There are 4 parts which were not rendered - I have an issue with render chains and ropes - don’t know why. I think this is an issue with the Studio app, but let’s go into details.
When you add a rubber band and one chain to that construction, it should shoot :) I implemented a ratchet mechanism to stretch the string with a small trigger. Also the ballista could be moved up, down, left and right. There are two separate mechanisms for that. Up and down on the bottom, very close to one of the wheels. I used a slizer’s body to make it stable. A little bit higher one of the dwarfs is the controlling mechanism of turning right and left. On the top of construction there are two other dwarfs. One of them is responsible for string stretching and the second one is a shooter.
That guy with the axe in his hand is responsible for loading new spears.
Whole construction is moving, could shooting and turn in all directories - some kind of dwarf’s tank :D
I know that usually dwarfs have shorter Lego legs, but from my perspective with that regular it looks better ;)
need you now by lady antebellum have been buzzing in my ear for about a week now LOL! talk about LSS
happy Tuesday everyone!
Oh boy! Last 2 weeks were like hell for me at work. Was loaded and loaded with work. At one point I decided I really need a break!
I quickly packed my bags and left for a trek. Far away, really far away from the computers and work. And guess what I did there? Just slept in the middle of the jungle enjoying the company of these colorful butterflies :) Nature has its own way of recharging us!
