Day 19 #COVID19 #lockdownuk The Necropolis cemetery in Glasgow which was modelled on Père-Lachaise in Paris, has long been a popular spot for city dwellers seeking a moment of tranquillity and reflection.
I am not sure if there's a proper use of this building or if it's just to tell something about the bridge (which's behind me) and the cemetery.
Westminster Bridge House, Westminster Bridge Road, the former Necropolis station, next to the tracks into Waterloo. It was from here funeral trains left for the cemetery in Surrey. Although it suffered bomb damage to the rear during the war some parts are still visible.
See the track on Bing maps to the right.
Its funerary inscriptions are the oldest written testimonies of the presence of Christian nuclei in Vizcaya, look at the astral signs on the stelae. It is a place full of magic and mystery, ideal to spend some quiet time.
Looking towards the centre and south of Glasgow from the necropolis. Really lucky with the weather for once, had two fantastic days in and around Glasgow.
