Motivados por uma crescente demanda por profissionais de alto nível e por uma docência em consonância com o novo milênio o Departamento de Ciências Exatas, diante dessa constatação, veio, através de seu docente João Barbosa de Souza, com vasta e significativa experiência de escolas estaduais, implementar um projeto, denominado de Projeto Núcleo de Atividades para Promoção da Cidadania – NAP, de inclusão social e cultural. O paradigma se alterou: o enfoque do ensino mudou do professor que ensina para o aluno que aprende.
