This golden-naped tanager/tangara nuquidorada was photographed at Reserva Amagusa, Mashpi Ecuador
This photograph was obtained at a facility with no wildlife in captivity. Some birds, mammals, and insects were drawn within photographic range by the provision of various carefully maintained foods appropriate to the species and habitat. Natural foods were also abundantly available in the area within and around the facility.
A newborn filly catches a nap and mom catches a quick bite to eat as she stands guard.

This is obviously an old picture and my niece is a 'big girl now.' But at first my sister caught naps whenever she could.
The cat is Nellie and is My Sister's Cat (add trumpets here!) She prefers her above all others, will sleep around the top of her head and doesn't mind being a good pillow now and then.

But this one is making his nap in a temple (Wat Pho) on a statue's feet.

Our second day in Tucson we spent the morning birding in Sweetwater Park, a wastewater treatment plant. This Red-naped Sapsucker is very similar to our eastern yellow-bellied, and it was making some sap wells in a tree by the pathway.
