Great Horned Owlet napping on it's second day out of the nest.
If you look closely you can see that he is actually sitting on his butt.

This burrowing owl family with six owlets scurried back into their burrow on my approach. Waiting patiently, they finally reappeared and once they sensed I was no danger settled down for a quick nap in the warmth of the sun under the watchful eye of their mother. Dad was on sentinel duty nearby.

An afternoon nap is sometimes nice. It's probably a good thing that people don't walk past my windows.
15 year old polar bear female (Ursus maritimus), named "Tatqiq" taking a short time-out from Snow Day at Polar Bear Plunge, San Diego Zoo.
Polar bears can sleep 7-8 hours at a stretch. They also take naps just about anywhere and any time - it helps them conserve energy.
