The Ford Cougar was sold in Europe and Australia and was Fords second attempt to introduce a large Coupe to follow the earlier successes of the Capri, and followed the Mazda MX6 based Ford Probe. Just as the Capri had been based on the Cortina, the Cougar was based on the large family car available at the time, the Mondeo. Like the Ford Probe, the 1998 Cougar was sold and built in the United States. Although cars destined to be sold in Europe and the UK were finished in Ford's Köln plant in Germany, where the cars had European specification lighting installed, Ford badges applied and in the case of UK and Australian cars, converted to right hand drive, (In the US it was branded as the Mercury Cougar).

Second-generation Ford Probe GT, specifically 1995-97.

For some reason, at this time of night, this Probe with its pop-up headlights closed reminded me of closed eyelids.

I haven't had a good night's sleep for going on five days, due to an unidentifiable, intermittent, low rumbling sound (let's keep it PG ;)) from a unit adjacent to mine. Hopefully I won't overdose on Unisom tonight.

Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton TD, supported by the Minister for Health Promotion, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy TD, today encouraged all schools to get active this Active School Week (ASW). Students need 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per day and schools are encouraged to download the challenge charts and certificates from the Active School flag website to get this message across. All schools and agencies are encouraged to “Get Active 60 minutes per day” and share their Active School Week activities and events using #ASW2017 and tagging @activeflag. Sponsored by the Department of Education & Skills and Healthy Ireland, Active School Week encourages its inclusion in the annual calendar of all schools, and is an integral part of the Active School Flag initiative. The Active School Flag initiative recognises schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community, and 655 schools currently have Active School Flag Status.

Never a great seller the Cougar was Ford's second attempt at a replacement Coupe for the popular Ford Capri, the first being the Mazda MX6 based Ford Probe. Based on the Ford Mondeo Mk.II the car was unveiled in the UK at the 1998 British Grand Prix at Silverstone and with a TV advertising campaign featuring Dennis Hopper. The car was available with a 2.0 litre 16v Zetec engine of 128 bhp or a 2.5 litre 24v Duratec engine of 168 bhp.

I decided to build a bike from my Ibex Ignition parts I had left over after that frame broke.

One thing missing is a front derailleur, as I was waiting on a 31.8 shim to be able to fit it to the new seat tube.

I had a lot of fun putting this together, and it actually rides and tracks really well.
