Mount Surprise Station, Mount Surprise FNW Queensland
This is a massive outback cattle property, which also hosts a camp site and a popular fossicking area. As I was driving through, a cattle muster was underway. Helicopters were being used to round up several thousand head of cattle across many thousands of hectares of rough terrain. The horseman pictured above, along with several other guys - some on motorbikes - was preparing to herd the livestock into pens where they would await transportation

At first glance the very young Kelpie sheep dog appears to be doing her job mustering the sheep. However, she is actually blocking them from crossing the bridge, much to the frustration of my brother on the other side who, with the help of his other much more experienced dogs, was trying to get them across. The sheep did eventually get across and on to the woolshed where they were awaiting crutching, which I described in my previous photo. All was forgiven and my brother maintains that young Jezebel (her name) shows great promise. Not that morning though.
