Nikon D7000 and Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 AF-S VR lens; a hi-res multishot stack using PhotoAcute Studio. (These wild, iconic legs have been on my to-do list for ages; finally, I can check 'em off... Funny, but she seems to have a run in one of her stockings, and needs a dusting... )

Trying out my new panorama set up (cobbled together from various Nodal Ninja and Hejnar parts and based on the Arca Swiss clamp system).
I got caught on the hop by the Aurora last night, to much telly box, not enough time watching wiggly graphs on Aurora websites! A quick check of the sky resulted in some sweary words and a leg it across the road to an empty field. I think the field might have been a better viewpoint than my usual tree as the Aurora was taking up a huge width of the horizon. Both are multishot panos stitched in Lightroom

This is a multishot pano was taken from the south rim of Crator Lake with a snow shower approaching from the west. They say if you don't like the weather at Crater Lake, just wait 5 minutes and it will change. This image tells that story. It also makes you wonder about the geologic processes that created these landforms. Several thousand years ago I would have been standing on the side of an active volcano. Note the trail on the left that takes you back to the lodge. Also, the dead tree that once was a Wihitebark Pine, now treatened by a fungus indroduced to the area in the 1900's. The orginal image is 60+ megapixels. I used Realy Right Stuff's pano clamp and slide to capture my images. Once in a while I have a shot in our lokal newspaper ...makes me proud. :-) The shot with the black beamer, coming round the corner, was shot as multishot, and then blended via Photoshop's layer mode "Pin Light" (german: Lichtpunkt).

Macro of a disposable lighter being lit. Inspired by this Tumblr post and a test of both my Canon 60d's limits and Lightroom's ability to remove noise without making things look like shit too much.
Canon EOS 60d on tripod with shutter cable, high-speed multishot
Canon 50mm f/1.8 on a 13mm extension tube for macro and proper focus distance
ISO 6400, 1/8000 at f/1.8
Best shot out of a few hundred. The gas is just being lit by the sparks from the flint; most of the other pics missed this moment by milliseconds and caught a regular flame.
I've posted some of these photos individually before, but cleaned them up and composited them into this. This was the teeniest wasp, found on my door frame several years ago. I had no idea what it was when I found it, and it was so tiny I couldn't tell much about it as I was taking photos. It was about as big as this period ->. Later I found it was a flightless wasp that parasitizes spider eggs.

Yorkshire Air Museum's superb reconstruction of the Handley Page Halifax III named "Friday the 13th" in honour of Halifax, LV907, which completed 128 operations with 158 Squadron.
The Halifax was a contemporary of the more famous Avro Lancaster, the Halifax first flown in October 1939 and remained in operation until the end of the Second World War.
