The drive from Egilsstaðir to Seyðisfjörður is quite nice, climbing over mountains, through forests and by numerous waterfalls. Eastern Iceland.
Built in 1911 by homesteaders in the area, Peace Valley School was a typical one room prairie school house. In 1926, an addition was adjoined to the west end of the building. Finally, in 1946, Peace Valley School closed it's doors. Today, it stands as a silent and lonely reminder to educations past. Remains of playground equipment stand adjacent the school house, no longer entertaining childeren during recess. The school house sits empty, slowly starting to give way to nature.
I love to watch this lady perform. She's really amazing. She plays violin & the piano as well as performs. Really amazing.

A vast network of multi-use trails criss-crosses the desert terrain. These trails are often used for OHV riding, hiking, and horse-back riding.
