Part six of my iPod collecting adventure arrived this week in the form of the iPod Nano 6th Generation 8GB which I was lucky enough to receive as an early birthday present this week. It was purchased from the new Covent Garden Apple Store which was an incredible retail environment that has been lovingly restored and provided a great place to show off all of the new Apple designs.
Once I was dragged away from the 11.6" MacBook Air (kicking and screaming) I eventually decided on the 8GB Nano, for me to try to use as a watch, but mainly to be used when running. The hardware is amazingly small, so small that it really takes you by surprise when you see it in the flesh for the first time. The multi-touch display, although small, is amazingly responsive and the whole experience is brilliant.
I will be writing a full review for my personal blog at jonhume.co.uk but for now enjoy the unboxing photos.

My Gallery 対話型 (Interactive) is a fully functional interface that allows users to experience the museum curatorial process first-hand by creating their own galleries. Users can touch a photograph, enlarge or shrink it, select their favorite photographs to create a gallery and then title the collection in English or Japanese.
This interface was developed by the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA), the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), and the Pacific Rim Undergraduate Experience(PRIME) program at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).

This is our third Multi-Touch prototype called "Celine".
It is a 21 inch DSI LCD Multi-Touch proof of concept.

As part of an immersive experience, visitors to the Singtel Experience in Singapore can 'see the world without ever leaving Singapore'.
Using a multi-touch interactive PufferSphere M900 display, visitors are invited to select a city on the digital globe before exploring the city through a high definition gesture controlled video wall.

Gagarin is proud to announce the opening of a new interactive exhibition on renewable energy for Landsvirkjun Power Company at the hydro power station Búrfellsvirkjun. Gagarin produced the exhibition, created the concept and managed the development and implementation.
The purpose of this exhibition is to give visitors insight into how the power plants in Iceland operate, about future energy sources, Iceland’s geology and the energy usage of household appliances.
Gagarin’s ambition for this exhibition was to actively engage the visitors with innovative interactive installation. For example the visitors can operate a hydro power station, learn about the power plants in Iceland in an interactive table and use actual plug-ins to show the energy usage of household appliances.
The exhibition opened on June 11 and welcomes visitors every day throughout the summer.

Expanding the range of its offerings, Micromax has launched a new laptop-tablet hybrid dubbed Micromax Canvas Laptab LT777 in India. It is a successor of the Canvas Laptab LT666 which was launched earlier this year. The newcomer is priced at INR 17,999 and is officially said to be exclusively available through Amazon from Tuesday i.e. October 13.
The single-SIM functionality-enabled Micromax Canvas Laptab LT777 boots Windows 10 and features an 11.6 inch multi-touch IPS display with 1366×768 pixels of resolution. The laptop-table hybrid comes with an 8.8mm detachable magnetic keyboard dock which features a touchpad and a full-size USB port.
Powering the Micromax Canvas Laptab LT777 is a 64-bit architecture-based Intel’s fourth-generation Atom Z3735F SoC which packs a quad-core processor (four threads, 2MB cache, 1.33GHz base clock speed and 1.83GHz burst clock speed) coupled with Intel HD Graphics Processing Unit and 2GB of DDR3L RAM. The laptop-tablet hybrid is said to be available in Black color option.
The Micromax Canvas Laptab LT777 features a duo of 2 megapixels shooters placed on its rear and front. It comes with 32GB of EEMC internal storage which is expandable up to 64GB via MicroSD. Connectivity options on the device include USB, Bluetooth, 3G and Wi-Fi. Further, the laptop-tablet hybrid is backed by a 9000 mAh battery, which is officially said to deliver 8-10 hours of usage on a single charge.

Apple's Magic Trackpad - I was little hesitant getting this puppy, but all my friends with MacBooks are recommending it me. Glad I listened to them. The multi gestures from MacBooks are also on the Trackpad, with that said, transition was peace of cake :)

Part six of my iPod collecting adventure arrived this week in the form of the iPod Nano 6th Generation 8GB which I was lucky enough to receive as an early birthday present this week. It was purchased from the new Covent Garden Apple Store which was an incredible retail environment that has been lovingly restored and provided a great place to show off all of the new Apple designs.
Once I was dragged away from the 11.6" MacBook Air (kicking and screaming) I eventually decided on the 8GB Nano, for me to try to use as a watch, but mainly to be used when running. The hardware is amazingly small, so small that it really takes you by surprise when you see it in the flesh for the first time. The multi-touch display, although small, is amazingly responsive and the whole experience is brilliant.
I will be writing a full review for my personal blog at jonhume.co.uk but for now enjoy the unboxing photos.

Gagarin’s ambition for this exhibition was to actively engage the visitors with innovative interactive installation. For example the visitors can operate a hydro power station, learn about the power plants in Iceland in an interactive table and use actual plug-ins to show the energy usage of household appliances.
The exhibition opened on June 11 and welcomes visitors every day throughout the summer.

Against my better judgment today I decided to plunk down some cash and download Galaga to my cell phone. I was worried how the game would handle being controlled by the touch screen only, but how bad could it be, right?
Well, it's bad - REALLY bad. First off, the LG Dare (my phone) does not have a multi-touch touchscreen so you can either move or fire, you can't do both simultaneously. For games like Galaga that simply won't do. Aside from being unable to do two things at once, trying to move your ship around is futile. The 'virtual d-pad' on the screen is too frustrating to deal with, and while you can just push left or right of your ship to move I kept hitting the 'pause' and menu buttons while trying to do so.
It didn't take long for me to realize I had just flushed my $6.99 directly down the toilet and into Verizon's sespool. Oh well, live and learn I suppose.
