I'm home with a cold and not up for much so I've been updating some of my Apps. I haven't done much with this one but had fun playing with it after loading the update today.
Interestingly, this company makes styluses for touch devices. But their app has some interesting multi-touch features (ie features using 2 or 3 fingers together) which... you would not be able to do with a stylus.
The most interesting one allows you to control the width of a line while drawing by spreading your fingers apart/together. It was fun to fool around with but would take some doing to learn to control.
This app has some definite interface annoyances. For instance, you have to name your file to save it. But then when you email it, it attaches the file with a generic name. How silly is that?
Following Seth Sandler's instructions on his blog I built a multi-touch box. The rig detects and tracks multiple fingerpoints contacting the surface as shown in the image here. I'm using a Microsoft LifeCam NX-6000 webcam taped, facing-up to the bottom of the box. A piece of white paper is taped to the top of the box from which you can slide your finger tips along. Seth provides all the binaries to make the system work on an ordinary Windows box. A Lenovo X61 Tablet PC is shown here running the demo_smoke application that Seth provides. Loads of fun! Next up it's time to build a full-sized, multi-touch table.

The purpose of this exhibition is to give visitors insight into how the power plants in Iceland operate, about future energy sources, Iceland’s geology and the energy usage of household appliances.
Gagarin’s ambition for this exhibition was to actively engage the visitors with innovative interactive installation. For example the visitors can operate a hydro power station, learn about the power plants in Iceland in an interactive table and use actual plug-ins to show the energy usage of household appliances.
The exhibition opened on June 11 and welcomes visitors every day throughout the summer.

The BAE Systems installation and integration encompassed six primary areas of the high tech corporate headquarters building. BlueWater Technologies equipped the state-of-the-art conference room with a 108-microtile digital video wall for presentation of PC material and full-motion video, controlled via touch panel as well as video conference calling capabilities. As we have all heard of and wanted. The dreamed of Mac Tablet. Well now, I introduce you with a concept I put together. Here is how I imagine the Mac 'Tablet'. Although, this device is a bit smaller than a usual tablet'.
this device contains a 7" Multi-touch glass screen with a black frame and chrome bezel around the screen. It's more like an enlarged iPod Touch rather than a 'tablet', which usual contain a larger screen. It would have a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Processor, 512MB - 1GB of RAM, 64GB flash memory, bluetooth, WiFi, and a cut down version of OS X Leopard or 'Snow Leopard' to fit the device.

Gagarin is proud to announce the opening of a new interactive exhibition on renewable energy for Landsvirkjun Power Company at the hydro power station Búrfellsvirkjun. Gagarin produced the exhibition, created the concept and managed the development and implementation.
The purpose of this exhibition is to give visitors insight into how the power plants in Iceland operate, about future energy sources, Iceland’s geology and the energy usage of household appliances.
Gagarin’s ambition for this exhibition was to actively engage the visitors with innovative interactive installation. For example the visitors can operate a hydro power station, learn about the power plants in Iceland in an interactive table and use actual plug-ins to show the energy usage of household appliances.
The exhibition opened on June 11 and welcomes visitors every day throughout the summer.

The MT-50 Multi-Touch Table at the Ideum Studio in Corrales, New Mexico. The table supports multitouch and multiuser interaction. It has a bright 50" (diagonal) surface with a high-resolution display which is higher than Microsoft's Surface multi-touch table.

Part six of my iPod collecting adventure arrived this week in the form of the iPod Nano 6th Generation 8GB which I was lucky enough to receive as an early birthday present this week. It was purchased from the new Covent Garden Apple Store which was an incredible retail environment that has been lovingly restored and provided a great place to show off all of the new Apple designs.
Once I was dragged away from the 11.6" MacBook Air (kicking and screaming) I eventually decided on the 8GB Nano, for me to try to use as a watch, but mainly to be used when running. The hardware is amazingly small, so small that it really takes you by surprise when you see it in the flesh for the first time. The multi-touch display, although small, is amazingly responsive and the whole experience is brilliant.
