Typical of me, I didn't take any 'before' photos of the mudroom. (You can see part of it in the background of countertop stage 11 and small pieces in a couple other photos.)

So today's project was to paint the room "field of pines" so that tomorrow the appliances can be moved out and the flooring can start. Why aren't they out yet? Still had some laundry to do first. :) And no, that's not the final color of the windowsill... that's the old yellow, which will be replaced with "grey ashar" (same color as the cabinet there) as well.

The pantry door is finally stripped and repainted, with new hinges... and will go back up as soon as the flooring is extended into the pantry, so I don't have to work around it. Yesterday I painted the doorframe "grey ashar" after a serious sanding to get the clumpy old paint off; the previous Crackheads™ had closed the door and slapped on one coat of paint, thus the little bit of frame that wasn't covered by trim got some white latex on it, which kind of drooled into the door-space. The cabinet doors can go on any minute now (after a bit of shaving, I'm sure).

not much of one in this small apartment, but I'm happy to have someplace to take off hat/shoes/jackets that isn't the rest of my place.

mudroom cabinetry, in progress

auxiliary mudroom, white subway tile w/ black grout & a wood countertop similar to this

I've made a tiny mudroom in the area behind the backdoor of the kitchen.

Blogged: myheartbehaves.com/2011/02/16/mudroom/

I took this just off the kitchen. Painted it myself, and hung the hydrangeas to dry.

July 15,2010. Used my Fujifilm 3800. Maybe a flash. Probably should have put it through photoshop, but I did not.

New stained cedar siding replaces the aluminum.

From the mudroom looking south. A huge kitchen and taht gleaming wood ... which by the way is also covered with thick creosote and cigarette tar. It is not an easy thing to clean and I am still working on it all.

Custom built bench and cabinet in new mudroom

Tuesday afternoon mudroom snooze ...

Locker systems are a versatile storage solution for any entry way, garage, or mudroom.

While walking around in the town of Tomales, I notice things. Especially Things that seem quiet and still but have a message.

I have always loved mudrooms, for those who do not know what they are they are a room too the outside, that when you re-enter the house you leave your muddy boots, and clothes from being outside, and you clean up to come inside the home. I just really love the concept.

As I walked down the street sunlight lingered on a black door revealing boots, shoes and plants enjoying the sunny day.

Award winning remodeling company, Kuhl Design and Build, in Minneapolis, MN designed this traditional white kitchen including a new mudroom and bath.

Finished custom built bench and cabinet

I put the sparkly stuff in here because the room is so small. When the sun comes in the windows it really makes the room look larger and shiny!

the deck will be extended to attach to this new back entrance.
