It is not an aerial photo of the Amazon River, either. This is ice on the surface of a mudpuddle. I used GIMP to transform the colors. First I desaturated it then I shifted the colors to green.
They were so beautifully red against the black burned tree trunk but when I got back with the camera there was just one left crawling on the forest floor.
Wanting to catch the sun's image, I lowered exposure a lot - making the edge details strange and mysterious
