On the weekend of August 9th Tania's nephew and his wife visited us, so on Saturday we drove them up Mount Lemmon for a short hike and picnic. We followed the Meadow Trail as far as Lemmon Park and the overview.

On July 29 2015 I joined Ned and the gang on one of the summer Mount Lemmon hikes. We hiked the loop formed by the Mt. Lemmon Trail and the Meadow Trail (formerly the Power Line Road and the Lemmon Park Trail) at the top of the mountain.

Sites at Spencer canyon campground by Cathy Lucas

The elevation is 8,000 ft. The campground is located in a nice wooded canyon under maturePonderosa pines Most sites have bear-proof food containers. Although we had a hard time opening or closing them.

The campground is composed of four sections: Ponderosa, East Fork,

Spencer and Turkey Track. Most of the sites are walk-in and great for tent camping.

After a short evening gig in Tucson I drove up Mt Lemmon with the hopes of seeing some of the Perseid meteor shower, However the clouds rolled in and the city light was blazing! Still I think the night was not a total waste :-)

A drive up Mt Lemmon located on the northern outskirts of Tucson, AZ was neat experience. The road while a bit curvey was paved and had lots of pull-outs to view the numerous vistas. At the top was a ski area with a neat little restaurant with great "hot" chili.
