Empower is located in the Cincinnati-based community of Mt. Adams. Once a winery, the neighborhood sits high on a hill overlooking the downtown area and the Ohio river.
In addition to spectacular views there are plenty of unique restaurants, boutiques and row houses. It's a trendy location with lots to offer. It's sometimes referred to as the mid-west version of San Francisco.
Emilie & I summited Mt St Helens. We obtained permits through Purmit.com. Spent the night at Walmart in Woodland, WA left at 5 am stopped at Starbucks to get a caffeine kick for the 4 hours we slept in the back of my ford focus. At 6 am we arrived at the Lone Fir Resort to get our permits! We stopped at the gas station across the street and got some yummy sandwiches and jerky. Hit the trail at 7:15 am. Made it 300 ft from the summit and got stuck in violent wind and ash blowing... So we waited about an hour with another couple in what was basically a hole and summited around 11:30 just in time for the clouds to clear. After a nice break we descended down to hit the car at 3pm just in time to hit traffic from Olympia to Seattle. So we postponed our departure and explored the ape caves until 4:30! Stopped for dinner in Chehalis and arrived home at 8pm
Thankfully we rode up and through the overcast on this day. It would turn out being one of the few sunny moments we had the entrire trip.
