It was so cold up there! Stupid me wore sandals when I got out of the car to take these shots.

From Mt Tauhara you'll see the Taupo skydive air planes constantly circling upwards...then pop pop pop, little dots leave the planes and about 45 seconds later they sprout parachutes like little bitty flowers. Pretty neat to watch--bring binoculars.

A quick trip to Mt Penang gardens. Quite lovely today.

East and West Horns of Mt Williamson, 2nd highest peak in California. The actual summit is out of frame behind and to the right.

I shan't take credit for being creative with this photograph. I'm just feeling blessed to be able to document it for posterity. On a hot sunny day July 24, 2005,

I shot this with a canon 20d at 135mm. Below are some facts from encarta about this landmark.

Mount Rainier, a dormant volcano of the Cascade Range in west central Washington. At 4,392 m (14,410 ft), it is one of the highest mountains in the United States. Three peaks top Mount Rainier's broad, rounded summit: Liberty Cap on the north; Point Success on the south; and Columbia Crest, the highest, on the east side. Among the many glaciers radiating from the summit are Emmons Glacier, Paradise Glacier, and Nisqually Glacier.

Steam vents in the summit craters suggest the volcano is not extinct. Mount Rainier has erupted over four periods in the last 10,000 years. The last major eruptions occurred about 2000 years ago, and there were eruptions between 100 and 150 years ago. Mudslides of volcanic material are common and pose the greatest danger around the mountain. Mount Rainier National Park features lakes, camping areas, and rugged terrain for hikers.

Mount Rainier was known by local Native Americans as Tahoma, meaning the “Mountain that was God.” The first European to sight it was British Captain George Vancouver in May 1792; he named it after British Rear Admiral Peter Rainier. It was first climbed by Hazard Stevens and Philomon Beecher Van Trump in 1870.

Mt. Woods Cemetery is locally significant and eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion C: Landscape Architecture, as an excellent example of the ""rural cemetery"" movement, and under Criterion C: Art, for its collection of locally significant examples of antebellum, Victorian-era , and early to mid-20th century funerary art, design and commemoration. Since its primary significance is attained from distinctive design features, Mt. Woods Cemetery also meets Criteria Consideration A : Religious Properties, since a portion of the cemetery is owned by a religious institution, and Criteria Consideration D: Cemeteries. The period of significance begins in 1831 with its first interment when it was part of the Woods family cemetery, and ends c.1950, reflecting the period when new interments, and thus the erection of funerary art, waned significantly.

Traversing this mountain range is an ULTIMATE BONDING TIME with God, and getting in touch with your inner self, in such a way where LIFE and DEATH are at stake. Thank you Lord for this wonderful date ♥ We love you so!

---- Matthew 7:7-11----

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"

MT. BATULAO

Nasugbu, Batangas

Jump-off point: Evercrest Golf Course, Nasugbu

LLA: 14.0408 N 120.8011 E 811 MASL

Days required / Hours to summit: 1 day / 2-4 hours

Specs: Minor climb, Difficulty 4/9, Trail class 3 with 60-70 degrees assault

"Even its name draws from a spectacular origin. Every yearend, the sun sets right between Batulao’s two peaks, creating an image of rocks surrounding a disc of red light. In Tagalog, this phenomenon of “Bato sa Ilao” (Illuminated Rocks) became abbreviated to “Batulao”. Although this happens only in the last week of December, Batulao’s charms throughout the year are more than enough to make it among the favored mountaineering destinations. "
