I'm fairly certain that the tarantula that I keep has grown too large for her current tank. Every night she clings to the glass walls and clambers to reach the top, where she uses a blow torch and wire cutters to break through the wire-mesh ceiling. I'm thinking about getting her a hamster ball so she can roam around the house.

For the past several years Metrolinx has periodically done major weekend construction projects on the former-CN Oakville Sub (now owned by Metrolinx) that have required VIA to detour their Toronto-Windsor trains over a circuitous CN routing.
On this day I had forgotten that detours were scheduled so was not expecting the appearance of VIA #71. As a consequence I didn't really get a shot that fixes the location as somewhere unusual for a VIA train. I did better later in the day.

Big D&H Boats pull north at Lanesboro, PA on what was once the Penn Division of the Delaware & Hudson, now part of Guilford Transportation. The line is getting one last, "hurrah", in trains were rerouted around the Beldon tunnel during a floor dig to make better clearance of it. These GE's were used in to assist the run around moves that were needed in order to point trains in the correct direction. After these moves, the line would be ripped up and nature would soon take over whatever was left.

The dark setting, with bright highlights the expression of critique, and the high contrast value tie this photo into my concentration. This self-portrait catches the eye due to its deep and interesting scenery as well as the abstract addition of the umbrellas. The road also adds depth to the image. Also, the rule of thirds coupled with the figure ground relationship allow for this photo to really work well. In addition, I added a high clarity effect to allow the photo to naturally blend into others of my concentration.
Editing-wise, I adjusted the whites, blacks, exposure, contrast, levels, clarity, and vibrance. I also layered together around five different photos of the umbrellas around the setting.
Every journey starts with a single move

In 1959 Chevrolet again came up with a totally new car. From the front or rear the 1959 Chevrolets resembled nothing else on the road. From the headlights, placed as low as the law would permit, to the cat's-eye tail lights, the 1959 Chevrolet was a brand new car with all new sheet metal, a new frame, and even new series names. The most visual new change was the flat, wing shaped tailfins. The car was built on a 119 in (3,000 mm) wheelbase and was 211 in (5,400 mm) long-which was 11 in (280 mm) longer than the 1957 model. This made Chevrolet the longest car in the low-priced range, whereas two years before it had been the shortest. In addition, the car was 3 in (76 mm) wider outside and had 5 in (130 mm) more width inside than it did in 1958, through the reduction of door thickness. The "X" frame from 1958 was continued, but enlarged and strengthened to support the new body.
Little change was made for 1960. The new models were refinements of the 1959 style with a much more restrained front end, the return of the double cone tail lights of 1958 rather than the startling "cat's eyes" of 1959. Under the hood, things remained constant. Fuel injection was no longer available, but with the 348 cubic inch engine, a horsepower rating of 335 at 5800 rpm was now achieved. This involved the use of three double-barrel carburettors, a special cam and an 11.25:1 compression ratio, all sold as a package. Body style offerings followed 1959, with hardtops and sedans available. The convertible was reserved for the Impala series. The Bel Air Sport Sedan continued to use a rear window overhang and a huge wraparound rear window. Bel Airs (and Biscaynes) had two tail lights per side; the Impalas had three tail lights per side—a situation that would persist for most years through 1975. Many of the same options and accessories that were available on the Impala were also available on the Bel Air. The Bel Airs had more interior and exterior brightwork than the Biscayne.
For hours and hours I've been watching these incredible birds building a nest, catching fish and making love. Spring is in the air!!!
The Great Crested Grebe is a member of the grebe family of water birds.
This Grebe is 46-51 cm long with a 59-73 cm wingspan. It is an excellent swimmer and diver and pursues its fish prey underwater. The adults are unmistakable in summer with head and neck decorations. It is the largest European grebe.
The young are remarkable because their heads are striped black and white, much like zebras. They lose these markings when they become adults.

It features what has to be one of the most blistering horn sections ever recorded in popular music. Remarkably the track failed to chart in America though the single was a big hit in the UK.
