The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Cheers!

We gradually moved towards the main shooting point, about an hour remained until dawn. The fog continued to thicken and in the bitter cold we were completely covered with frost. The full moon shone brightly, turning orange at dawn. All this created excellent conditions for shooting. There was plenty of time and we were not particularly in a hurry, taking pictures of everything. This is one of those shots, nothing special, just a hazy sunrise.

Everything will change when your

desire to move on exceeds your

desire to hold on.

Expect that the captain aboard the ferry to Denmark, was reasonably "pissed off" when we didn't move our boat fast enough out of his way. Although they used the ship`s whistle / horn eagerly ...... But we were on a fishing trip and then everything else have to wait..... :-) Sorry Captain!

An 8 week old Archie here enjoying some 'catch the string' play. Shot in low light at a high ISO and despite the focus not being perfect, the pose just brings such a smile to my face that I have to share the shot! He is now almost 11 weeks old and has grown so much. I'll have to do another photo-shoot with my wee ball of fluff soon. Enjoy your weekend my friends!

Sanderling (Calidris alba)

If you lay on the beach long enough, they will come! So close it's hard to focus. This little guy was about six feet away. Stone Harbor Point NJ.

I must say, I was shocked when I saw how nighttime changes an owl's face. While they become fearsome predators at night, they also become much more adorable to us humans, who have evolved to perceive large eyes as captivating and innocent.

In an effort to find area barred owls, I set out to a local park before sunrise and came upon this Eastern Screech Owl (Megascops asio) in the dark. This darkness was so inky and thick, in fact, that I could not see if he was in his hole or not, so trained my tripoded camera on the hole, manually focused, and finally saw him in the preview window! Shocked for sure by those massive pupils staring down at me, a frog (which he swallowed greedily prior to this photo and while I watched) in his talons!

Interestingly, owl eyeballs are not balls at all, but so well evolved for night vision that they have elongated into eye cones. For this reason, they cannot move their eyes in their sockets, and have evolved wildly-flexible necks. With their highly acute retinas replete with rods (the light and movement sensing eye bits), there wasn't much room for cones, and so most owls see limited or no color!

For "Smile on Saturday" - theme : "on the move".

After you stand here with me for a minute and soak in what it must have been like when the world around you exploded back in 1980, I'd like to direct your eyes to the trail, yes, that's it, right there. Thats not the end, no, it switchbacks up, but that isn't my beef. The trail consists of loose soil and small round rocks, lets call them marbles, and so making my left here inches from the cliff of death I made a mental note that I must come down eventually and in all seriousness prepared to throw myself to the ground if I started sliding and so, dear trail blazers, guardians of Saint Helens, Trail Angels, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MOVE THE TRAIL BACK A FOOT!!!!

Thank you.

Because I seem to have a bad habit of standing in front of large moving vehicles that could squash me like a bug.

This isn't the kind of shot my client looks for when advertising her stallions, LOL, but I couldn't resist. Had to play with this one. This is Ardri and he had just been turned loose for the shoot. And as always, these stallions go wild in the beginning, showing off their best moves to all the ladies who might be watching! I got a lot of good shots of him too, but had to share this cuz it's funny

You sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that hoof when it reaches full momentum.

These beauties are such a delight to see flying around in the garden. So it's always nice to see that they are making more.

I always worry a little about them when they are on their honeymoon. They are very easy to spot and they are a highly sought after meal for birds.

Speaking of birds, the house finches have started visiting once more and I have seen a bunch of the tiny little guys that stick to the treetops. Well, I guess you can say I have seen them :) I haven't gotten a good look at the treetop hoppers, they move so quickly and stay so high. I know they are there, I hear them and see the activity. It's time to clean up boggy creek for the little migraters.

I will be on and off a while. I have a bunch of indoor projects in the works plus outdoor maintenance and company coming soon.

I hope your weekend is spectacular. Happy snapping.

In celebration of autumn……. This photo was taken in early November 2011 at Tongdosa [Buddhist] Temple, a drive of about 35 kilometers (22 miles) north of Busan.

Quote Of The Day:

"I believe that if the people of this nation fully understood what Congress has done to them over the last 49 years, they would move on Washington; they would not wait for an election... It adds up to a preconceived plan to destroy the economic and social independence of the United States!" (George W. Malone)

not really a "traditional" post... but, I thought i would share anyway.

On Friday March 25th, it was decided to get some stored Metra equipment out of the city to better accommodate our track department as they embark on a tie project on the Elgin Sub this spring. One underutilized location is our Antioch Coach Yard, which with post-COVID schedules leaves us with some room to spare. Here's METX 11 pulling a dozen oldies north over the Fox Lake Sub diamond at Grayslake. The F40's are all older unrebuilt models that have ben pushed out of service since the coming of the Amtrak F59PHI's and were used primarily on the Union Pacific purchase of service lines.

I spent the last day of my yearly vacation on the Montzen route. Starting the day in Sint-Martens-Voeren, I ended in Hoeselt.

At the very end of this last day of my yearly vacation, I could squeeze out shots of 2 more freights heading west. One of them being a train loaded with Move and Ewals containers, headed for Genk. The train is seen just south of Hoeselt.

Shoutout to Trainbelge, who I met in Hoeselt again, after meeting each other for the first time 1 week earlier in France.
