Mount Wellington | TAS | Australia

Morning on top of Mount Wellington above Hobart, Tasmania. Even though it looks warm with that morning light, it was still freezing with the wind chill, and I was glad I had a down jacket, hard shell top and pants, thermals, gloves and beanie!

Mount Fuji, located on Honshū, is the highest mountain in Japan at 3,776.24 m, 2nd-highest peak of an island in Asia, and 7th-highest peak of an island in the world. It is a dormant stratovolcano that last erupted in 1707–1708. Mount Fuji lies about 100 kilometers south-west of Tokyo, and can be seen from there on a clear day. Mount Fuji's exceptionally symmetrical cone, which is snow-capped for about 5 months a year, is a well-known symbol of Japan and it is frequently depicted in art and photographs, as well as visited by sightseers and climbers.

Well, I'm back from Timaru and the Mackenzie Country now. Actually, I got back late last night and pretty much just fell into bed and slept until after lunch time because I was so tired!

I had a wonderful weekend, celebrating some more birthdayness with friends, doing things like building an awesome sandcastle, going to a fundraising dinner, listening to live jazz and going out on the town and dancing until 2. Yesterday was lots of fun too, driving out to Lake Pukaki to do a photoshoot with Han and T (photos posted soon!), having a picnic lunch beside Lake Alexandrina and then soaking in the hot pools at Tekapo. Unfortunately I got really badly burnt and currently resemble a lobster, which is really rather painful.

This is Lake Pukaki with Mount Cook in the distance which I photographed while waiting for Han and T to change into their dresses =)

Mount Tasman, New Zealnd's second highest peak, seen from Fox Glacier village at sunset.

Only two young swimmers were spearfishing in the bay.

You can see the beautiful shimmering of caustics over submerged stones and pebbles. I wonder if these young fellows saw them.

Thank you for watching.

I like this photo because it's got all the essential components of a Mount Major morning view (granite, forest, lake, islands, mist, mountains, clouds). I went with black and white to emphasize the texture of the rocks and contrast it with the wispy clouds.

This was actually one of the few mornings we were able to see the mountain. The weather seemed to change really quickly and by the time you had eaten your breakfast the clouds began to gather :).
