Lake MCDonald in the morning ... the reflections were very nice, but I also like reeds and wood sticking out of the water, so was able to composed both here in this capture along the shore line of the lake.
Beautiful morning at the lake yesterday. Very early rising is not really my thing but sometimes it's worth it.
With a sunny forecast for Sunday I figured it would be a good time to get out and chase Pan Am Railways WAAY (Waterville, Maine to Ayer, Massachusetts) also known as the Poland Springs water train. The new train provides a relatively rare morning westbound freight move in Maine and New Hampshire. I was a little disappointed when I realized they were early enough that the first place there would be sun was the Salmon Falls River bridge over its' namesake Salmon Falls. I've worked in S. Berwick since 2000 so I've pretty much beaten the shot from the road to death. I figured it would be a good chance to try a different perspective with the drone. Power for the train was a trio of matched SD40-2's, something that will likely become increasingly rare with the influx of the C40-8's. All three units were built new as ATSF SD45-2's. On the head pin are paper loads from the Sappi Somerset mill destined for the railroad's GMX affiliate warehouse in Ayer followed by Eimskip containers loaded with the water. Unfortunately what I had hoped would be an all day chase was rather short lived as they ended up waiting several hours in Newfields.

A glorious morning with a pink haze appeared on Lake Sempach. This time, just before sunrise, is arguably the most beautiful. It's as if a magic spell were passing through the landscape – just for a brief moment.

In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my recquests before you and wait exptectantly. Psalm 5:3
The tide surges in and out as the tidal pools fill and flee. Clouds slowly drift across the painted horizon.

This morning as I was about to head out for my morning bike ride I realized I tend to take it for granted that I have a bike, that I am able to actually ride a bike, and that I have such interesting places to ride.

As I cycle up Glen Shee from the Spittal of Glenshee the days out wonderfully bright as the morning sun lights the dramatic landscape around me. Unfortunately this isn't to last and the weather closes in the higher I climb towards Glas Tulaichean.
Glas Tulaichean is my 5th Munro of the season and the 28th in total, bringing me to a Munro completion rate of near enough 10%. The mountain stands at 1051 meters (3448 feet) and is the last one I will do as I have now moved away from Scotland and back to my roots in South Yorkshire as the pull of the Grandchildren was just too strong.
