Construction of the Washington Monument began in 1848, and was halted from 1854 to 1877 due to a lack of funds. If you look close you can see the difference in the colors of the stones which shows the different period of construction.

Monument valley sure offers dramatic scenery, even on a dull winter day like this one. I used the "Dramatic Tone" art filter on my Olympus E-5 to emphasize the otherwise dull texture in the overcast clouds. It works well enough in some of the shots I took.
With a hot air balloon, powered by the Houses of Parliament, and a Class 465, powered by the third rail.

The Native American Monument at the Little Big Horn Battlefield is the site newest Monument. It was dedicated to commemorate the Native Americans who died here fighting to Preserve their way of life. The plaques on the monument depict the events from a Native American Point of View. At the northside of the circular Monument is the Spirit Warrior Sculpture..

The National Monument to the Forefathers stands on the summit of Monument Hill. The granite Monument was designed by the Boston artist Hammatt Billings and is 81 feet high. The Pilgrim Society laid the cornerstone in 1859 and finally dedicated the finished monument in August, 1889
