The monument in memory of those killed in the Aksy events of 2002 and the events of April 2010.
On 17 March, 2002 in the village of Bospiek Aksy district, police opened fire on demonstrators who demanded release of the deputy of Jogorku Kenesh, Azimbek Beknazarov, who spoke against certain decisions of then ruled President Askar Akayev. The clashes killed six residents of Aksy district, about 50 people were shot and wounded.
On 7 April 2010 the government was overthrown. On Ala-Too square, 86 people were killed and hundreds were injured. In Bishkek, large shopping centres were destroyed and individual objects were captured. Top
