The Wooldridge Monuments are a series of historical monuments located in Maplewood Cemetery of Mayfield, Kentucky. They were built for Colonel Henry G. Wooldridge, to commemorate family members and other loved ones of his life, from 1892 until Wooldridge's death on May 30, 1899.
Choragic Monument of Lysicrates. The circular structure, raised on a high squared podium, is the first Greek monument built in the Corinthian order on its exterior. It was originally crowned with an elaborate floral support for the bronze tripod that was the prize Lysicrates' chorus won. Its frieze sculptures depict episodes from the myth of Dionysus, the god whose rites developed into Greek theatre. It stands now in its little garden on the Tripodon Street, Plaka.

The doughboy monument was sculpted by Gaetano Federici - Paterson NJs sculptor.
In the Greater Paterson area, Gaetano Federici (1880-1964) was once a household name, with more than forty of his statues within a two mile radius of Paterson City Hall.
Born in Castelgrande, Southern Italy, Federici immigrated to Paterson at age seven. Beginning his work as an apprentice sculptor in 1897, Federici was a traditional sculptor whose works fits in the late Victorian realism. His era was the end of the era when public figures were memorialized in bronze statues. The current era favors abstract memorials like the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington DC.
He was responsible for many of the public sculptures in Paterson and around to. Including several of the statues in front of Paterson City Hall, as well as in front of the Passaic County Courthouse. Many of Federici’s subjects are themselves notable figures, both on a local and national level, including politicians (Senator William Hughes, Mayor Andrew McBride), philanthropists (Nathan Barnert), religious leaders (Dean McNulty), athletes (Eleanor Egg, national track star) and comedians, (Lou Costell).

Located in the Place de la Bastille - The Colonne de Julliet dominates the plaza. It marks the site of the prison known as the Bastille which was stormed by the mob in 1789 at the start of the French Revolution. I was sitting at a cafe having a glass of wine when I took this picture.
The July column is based on a circular pedestal of white marble. This base has the shape of the circular basin that had been achieved under the First Empire to host a fountain with a sculpture of an elephant in the middle. A model of plaster was installed, but the final sculpture was never carried out because of lack of funds because of wars. Victor Hugo evokes this model in Les Miserables.

The Priory Church at Edington is described as one of the most important village churches in England and the only perfect example of a monastic church in Wiltshire. Unfortunately, we didn’t time our visit very well, as it came in the 3-week period when the church is in complete chaos because the new organ is being installed. We could only get to certain parts of the church, but we did manage to get fairly close to the Lewis Monument, which dates to 1630. They depict the five children of Sir Edward Lewis (d. 1630) and his wife Lady Anne Beauchamp (d. 1664).
I know, I should have moved the leaflets!
