Our skies during monsoon season are just gorgeous. These were all taken on the same day. Some in the front yard and some from the back and the difference is literally night and day.

My pictures of course are amateur. If you want to see some GREAT sky pictures go to Teri's flickr.

My daughter and the youngest camping friend.

My daughter with a few jaw bones and her friend with one of the skulls we found close to our camp. We joked about camping in a bone yard.

Japan is a highly contextual society; you're supposed to understand when

people are unhappy with you. As an American, I couldn't always understand

when my host mom was upset with me. Japanese people are not confrontational

by nature, but my host mom compromised by writing me letter to tell me when

I was doing something wrong. I chose to show this letter because it's

really funny: my host mom was complaining about my smelly feet and telling

me to put my shoes in a plastic bag when I took them off after entering the

house. In my defense, walking around Tokyo in Monsoon season makes your

feet really sweaty and smelly.

The kids enjoyed finding bones. By the time we were done we had a few skulls and numerous jaw bones.

Jasper and Karen. Adorable!

Day 2 - we got camp reset and all went well. Great weather, just a few sprinkles but tons of nasty cicada! Otherwise lots of fun!
