Triangle Pose / Trikonasana in the snow. There is something special practicing yoga outdoors; although, I prefer yoga on the beach, it is winter in Connecticut, so yoga in the snow can also be fun, even breathtaking. In this pose, the body creates a series of triangles, which opens the chest/heart area as well as hips. Increases mental & physical focus and stamina. It lengthens tight muscles; releases tension in the entire body. Practice this pose often; enjoy all the enormous health benefits of this posture. Hold pose for at least 7-9 mindful breaths on each side of the body, while holding the gaze/Drishti upwards/skywards or towards the upper fingertips. Enjoy!

On Sunday, December 18, 2016, the Christmas choir and worship team gave a special musical presentation and lead the Congregation in worship with Christmas carols.

It's always extra special when the pose of the week shows a yoga practice in action, not just any yoga session, it's Partner/Date Night/ Acro Yoga, our once a month class. The practice is beautifully captured by Charles Wills (always grateful for his photography). Our yogis are Jay and Stephanie are in Acro Bow Pose (Acro Dhanurasana)--thank you; they are a great couple who regularly practices yoga at Bliss. Practice these poses on your own, then practice with a partner, someone you trust and is willing to be challenged and to laugh together.

Handstand or Adho Mukha Vrksasana transitioning from an inversion to a back- bend with the beautiful tree as support and great autumnal colors. This tree is a spot I see many times on a weekly basis on my runs at Great Hollow Lake, part of Wolfe Park in Monroe; in the fall it's one of my favorites to check the colors.

Practice inversions, but be safe and have fun in the process. Handstands can be scary due to taking the entire body upside down, therefore it is an advanced yoga inversion; the practitioner balances on the hands. In addition to lifting the body in an inverted position onto the hands, this pose demands core strength; it refreshes the mind; it changes ones perspective instantly; energizes the body. You can ask for my assist with the practice of this pose next time you are on your mat at Bliss! :-)
