9,000 feet up the mountain are Mono Hot Springs. You have the option of taking a dip in the natural springs across the river, or going to the bath house. Jae and I chose the natural route. The best part was being able to take a dip in the brisk mountain river when you got too hot in the springs.

The sun sinks in the west and the mountains to the east become ablaze in golden light. The clouds shed their grey and gloomy coats and shine away in shirts of silver. What is more beautiful then a Sierra sunset? There are not many more ways to end the day as perfectly as this.

This is a really scary, narrow, winding road with blind turns and steep drop offs. Imagine all that, but with snow and ice. SCARY.

We were the only car in a group of 10-15 to have chains for our car. So many cars in front of us got stuck in the ice and caused us to spend over 2 hrs to travel 15 miles on these treacherous roads.

We were informed earlier in the day that a Jeep 4x4 had flipped over and gone off the side due to the icy conditions.

The road up to Mono Hot Springs was 16 miles and a single lane. It took us an hour and a half because of the condition of the road and twists and turns, but the view was well worth it.
