The Kenyans say the devil planted this tree upside down because of the monstrous appearance with its swollen, bottle-shaped trunk and short dumpy branches sticking up in the air like thick roots.

Why go through the extra step of roasting nuts before adding them to a batter, which will then be baked anyway? I have tried both ways, and there IS a difference. Baked products taste better with roasted nuts. The oils in the nuts are warmed and the flavor is intensified.

Nuts go rancid quickly. Keeping nuts in the fridge retards staling.

Roasting the nuts can be done on the stove top, over low heat, or in the oven, at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Roast for about 6-8 minutes. Do not exceed roasting time.

:::recipe blogged:::

This is the leftovers of a McBain family tradition: Money Bread. It is a coffee cake-like creation that my mom used to bake every holiday morning. Looking at it and tasting it you know it is bad for you, but it wasn't until recently that I learned just how bad.

The only ingredients are butter, karo syrup, sugar, cinnamon, pillsbury biscuits, and rasins. It is yummy to the extreme. It is definately a "bolus before" kind of meal. once again, this is a breakfast food.

Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving!

Origin: northeastern, central and southern Africa

Regarded as the largest succulent plant in the world, the baobab tree is steeped in a wealth of mystique, legend and superstition wherever it occurs in Africa.

It is a tree that can provide food, water, shelter and relief from sickness. During drought elephants obtain moisture by chewing on the wood - this massive tree stores large quantities of water in its trunk tissues.

The stem is covered with a bark layer, which may be 50-100 mm thick. The leaves are hand-sized and divided into 5-7 finger-like leaflets.
