Who likes Monkey Bread? *raises hand* okay, well I love bread in genera, but this was a great snack to end a long day. Actually, I have to do my homework and some work soon, so my day isn't over. Boo

Why go through the extra step of roasting nuts before adding them to a batter, which will then be baked anyway? I have tried both ways, and there IS a difference. Baked products taste better with roasted nuts. The oils in the nuts are warmed and the flavor is intensified.
Nuts go rancid quickly. Keeping nuts in the fridge retards staling.
Roasting the nuts can be done on the stove top, over low heat, or in the oven, at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Roast for about 6-8 minutes. Do not exceed roasting time.

I made this batch of monkey muffins using The Pioneer Woman's recipe but modifying it to use croissant dough. Here's my blog post about the process: wp.me/p1qiXX-134

this is where a non stick pan would have come in handy
i can't say that i didn't enjoy eating the crumbs though.
This is the leftovers of a McBain family tradition: Money Bread. It is a coffee cake-like creation that my mom used to bake every holiday morning. Looking at it and tasting it you know it is bad for you, but it wasn't until recently that I learned just how bad.
The only ingredients are butter, karo syrup, sugar, cinnamon, pillsbury biscuits, and rasins. It is yummy to the extreme. It is definately a "bolus before" kind of meal. once again, this is a breakfast food.
Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving!
