Grey Langur monkey - Sri Lanka

We saw howler monkeys throughout our stay. I photographed this young one enjoying a leaf right outside our cabin.

Monkeys are haplorhine ("dry-nosed") primates, a group generally possessing tails and consisting of approximately 260 known living species. Many monkey species are tree-dwelling (arboreal), although there are species that live primarily on the ground, such as baboons.

The Sundarbans (Bengali: সুন্দরবন, Shundorbôn) is a natural region in Bengal. It is the largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world.[2] The Sundarbans covers approximately 10,000 square kilometres (3,900 sq mi) of which 60 percent is in Bangladesh with the remainder in India.[3] The Sundarbans is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.[3]

 

The Sundarbans National Park is a National Park, Tiger Reserve, and a Biosphere Reserve located in the Sundarbans delta in the Indian state of West Bengal. Sundarbans South, East and West are three protected forests in Bangladesh. This region is densely covered by mangrove forests, and is one of the largest reserves for the Bengal tiger.

Trentham Monkey Forest is a 60 acre area with 140 free roaming Barbary Macaques. You get to wander amongst them - no bars and no glass between you! Awesome! Oh - and they currently have 12 babies!

This one sat on the bonnet of our car and peeled a grape.

I just liked that tiny little finger that did not keep him in place. These monkeys fell a lot while climbing.

It comes to something when a monkey sits smiling at you awkwardly
