Monk parakeets, also known as quaker parakeets are native to S. America where they can do extensive crop damage. A few populations are established in the United States. I spotted two monk parakeet on the Audubon Christmas count in December. I finally got a good photograph on Jan 14, 2013.

Monk Bar. Probably so named after the monks of a neighbouring monastery, not as erroneously supposed after General Monk 1660. The vaulted chambers above were the Freemen's Prison. The Arms of England are quartered with those of France on the outer side of Bar. The original portcullis still remains. This Bar is on line of Roman Wall, erected on Roman foundations in the 13th century and enlarged in the 15th century. Barbican removed 1825. The Bar completely restored 1953 and strengthened in 1979.
Two young monks check out the films showing at the Sittwe Cinema. The main actor in the lower-left poster was everywhere in Burma; he featured in movies, songs/video clips and billboards all across the country.
Saw him while waiting for a train in Taipei. I am curious what kind of photos would a monk take.

These Monk Parakeets (Myiopsitta Monachus) can be seen in several Spanish cities including Barcelona, Madrid, Tarragona and on the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands. They generally only live in urban areas and you can find hundreds of them in Barcelona where this photo was taken whilst they were having a wash in a pavement puddle in Placa de Tetuan.
