It has pneumatic suspension and motorized/remotely controlled driving and steering. It has a working steering wheel and remotely controlled original functions (doors, rear spoiler and hood - choice of a function is done manually with gearbox lever, like in the original).

It has additional two L motors for driving and M motor for steering, two IR receivers (one of them V2). Original battery box has been replaced with 8878 rechargeable battery box which is smaller so I could hide it behind panels at the rear for more realistic appearance.

Original suspension (6.5 L hard springs) has been changed with 6.5 L soft spring + small pneumatic cylinder, for all wheels. It has large pneumatic pump at the back and pneumatic switch at the cabin for controlling riding height.

Ignoring the elegant lines of Mariann's model, I made a few tweaks to the design, extending the roof and adding a chimney. I also gave a bigger hat to the snowman, 'cause I'm a rebel like that.

Slight modification of he Original set and used two sets!

The Fort Carré is a military fort built during the reign 'of Henri II to xvi th century . The fort is located on the peninsula of Saint Roch in Antibes , along the road from the seafront and is built on a rock rising 26 meters above the sea .

 

History

Fort Square was built mid- xvi th century under Henri II by Monsieur de Saint-Rémy. Two characters were designated as François de Saint-Rémy Mandon and Jean Renaud de Saint-Rémy , both with ties to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence . Jean de Saint-Rémy built the St. Lawrence turn around which has developed strong square. It has been slightly retouched end xvii th century under Louis XIV by Vauban .

 

Context

The xvi th century , the Provence belongs to the Kingdom of France while the County of Nice depends on the Duchy of Savoy , the boundary is located at the river Var . Tensions between the Kingdom of France and the Duchy of Savoy are due to the latter's alliance with Spain Habsburg . During the wars of Italy , the Spaniards put Antibes sacked in 1524 and 1536, showing the fragility of this region.

 

Southeast of Provence is a border area that the kings of France from the reign strengthen François I er . Henri II decided to build Fort Carré in a strategic location: the building is a sentinel for by point panoramic view to monitor the border with the Duchy of Savoy.

 

Construction

It has long been attributed to the construction of the Fort Carré François de Saint-Rémy Mandon who called himself Monsieur de Saint-Rémy. In fact, the military engineer who built the first Fort Carré is Jean Renaud de Saint-Rémy also called Monsieur de Saint-Rémy. Both came from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence . Jean Renaud was also "M. de Saint-Remy," and the family of Renaud de Saint-Rémy has its own chapel inside the church of Saint-Martin . The common name for the two men led to an error on the allocation of the ramparts of Saint-Paul-de-Vence in the late xix th century by Henri-François de Madon designer ramparts.

 

Saint-Laurent chapel which stood on the hill was destroyed on this occasion to give way to the military building and the name of St. Lawrence was retained for the central tower of Fort Carré which still bears the name "tower St. Lawrence. "

 

The construction begins with the St. Lawrence turn a truncated keep repeating the plan " torrionne "Italian. This is an annular building surrounding a courtyard 23 meters in diameter with embrasures outside, at the top, armed with 6 protected by a wall 4 meters thick guns.

 

At the end of the construction of the tower, it was found that the book could not resist when important seat. Between 1544 and 1546, King François I er gives letters of commission to Jean de Saint-Rémy to study the fortifications of Provence. It applies to the existing building principles bastion fortification as it did for the ramparts of Saint-Paul-de-Vence. He added four bastions tapered allowing to place 21 guns. Access to the building is still medieval, perched with a door under the fire orillons .

 

The construction of Fort Carré left no plan, no real archive. The various elements collected in the later works agree to place the work begins in the early 1550s, probably in 1553.

 

The entire building was completed and operational in 1585 .

 

Defensive function

over three centuries. Apart from its role of surveillance and deterrence, the Fort Carré was attacked twice:

 

- In 1591, during the Wars of Religion , Duke Charles Emmanuel I st of Savoy made ââa breakthrough in Provence and took the fortress of Antibes no need to fight. The French Army initiated by Henri IV to reconquer Provence is the seat of Antibes and its high in 1592. Epernon Duke leading the seat eventually retake the city and the fort. This is the only known military take Fort Carré;

- In 1746/1747, during the War of the Austrian Succession , the Fort Carré and Antibes are bombarded by artillery Austro-Sardinian and the English fleet, but the stronghold holds the seat.

The intervention of Vauban

Vauban is very little intervention on Fort Carré. Visiting Antibes in the 1680s, he drew several plans and establishes a list of work to be done for defenses Antibes, its port, and Fort Carré. He tells the engineer Antoine de Niquet the task of supervising the work. On the Fort Carré, few of these studies have actually been carried out, particularly include general repair equipment to ensure comfort of the troops, and the creation of outer defenses. The silhouette of the building has been modified in any way by Vauban, the current form of Fort Carré has remained pretty much the one he already had the xvi th century .

 

Military decommissioning

The xix th century marked a turning point with the annexation of Nice to France in 1860 and a significant modification of weapons that make the Fort Carré obsolete. The strong position and Antibes Fort Carre are decommissioned at the end of the xix th century , thus resulting in the leveling of the city walls. Last used in a military context, during the Second World War, the Fort Carré served during the occupation of foreign assembly center for all the Alpes-Maritimes .

 

Military Schools Sports

The site of Fort Square with its stadium built in 1920 and barracks Reille welcomes the xx th century several schools sports and military vocation:

 

- 1920 - 1939: Regional Physical Training Centre, providing training for teachers of physical education in schools;

- 1940 - 1945: National College instructors and athletes, which has the same function as the CRIP;

- 1945 - 1953: Military School fencing and combat sports (EMESC) forming military athletes.

It was at this time that the Fort Carré is refitted with the installation of an obstacle course and track risk using buildings as a training site for climbing, balance and abseiling .

 

- 1953 - 1967: School of military physical training (EEPM), which is actually the merger between Antibes and EMESC ENEPM Pau;

- 1967: closing the EEPM d'Antibes and the creation of the Joint Sports School Fontainebleau 3 .

The Regional Centre for Popular Education (CREP)

In 1968 the Fort Carré is assigned to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Management is entrusted to the Regional Director of Youth and Sports for the Academy of Nice (M.PERRIER) . So as not to compete with the CREPS Boulouris Fort Carré is rather dedicated to the youth sector (CREP) without in any way prevent the various training courses (Shooting Centre, diving and sailing with Stuppa , Gymnastics with Bernard Brochart , Judo with Bernard Midan , Wrestling with Christian Joly and cooperation with Antibes for training local clubs. Until 1979 various cultural events like "living book" (Christine De Toth) are initiated by the DRJS in the fort.

 

Restoration [ edit | edit the code ]

Between 1979 and 1985, the Fort Carré is restored by volunteers Club du Vieux Manoir . Working during spring break and summer youth club restore facades, roofs, create access ... allowing the tour of the building.

 

The public opening

Property of the City 'of Antibes since 1997, the Fort Carré is open to the public since 1998.

 

Classified as a historic monument by successive decrees of November 7, 1906 and August 20, 1913, amended by decree of 17 October 1937 and 19 October 1976.

A few quick modifications I made to the Exosuit.

 

The first change was to the arms. I hated that pnuematic T-joint prevented the arms from extending fully. The problem when removing that part was the arm would hyper extend backwards and did not seem right. So I replaced www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32013 with www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32016 and using a small axle, extended it with a bush. Now it fully extends and the arm stops completely flat. I also extended the reach of the arm with a technic bush right after the elbow joint.

 

While it does not necessarily need it, the Exosuit was lacking in firepower. In order to attach something from the back, I had to change the position of the ball joint www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=50923 . The part now extends to the side a little farther out, instead of up and down. The axle hole can be accessed easily now. Using nothing but technic parts, each shoulder has 4 mounted cannons that can move up and down and are independent of arm movement.

I plan on doing many modifications, especially to the arms. I really dislike those barrels so I plan on making the forearms more like the upper arms, and also plan on giving it articulation in the wrist, adding small spotlights to the top, making the base of the feet wider for stability, attaching another hose to the arms like the way the existing one goes to the legs (saw the idea on Reddit) and likely a whole lot more.

This is a pinhole camera, which I made out of a cheap 35mm Vivitar point-and-shoot camera, which you can easily find at your local thrift store/bargain basement for less than a couple of dollars.

 

Basically all I did with this camera is remove the lens and shutter mechanism (Which was fairly easy, because there was not very much to the mechanism). Then I took a small piece of tinfoil (with a pinhole, of course) and placed it right about where the lens was originally. The removal of both the lens and shutter assembly compromised the cameras “light-tightness”, so a liberal amount of electrical tape was used to help seal the camera, and make it light-tight again. I also used a thin strip of black construction paper with a small square cut in the center to act as a shutter.

 

The first time I ran a roll of film through it, it confused the poor guys at the photo lab. They did not know what to make of it, some of the pictures where over/under exposed, quite blurry, and there where uneven gaps between the frames on the negative. I have recently made a few adjustments, and everything seems to be working great

 

With this camera, I have found that on a nice bright sunny day, with 200 ISO film, a 1-2 second exposure is all you really need. I should get around to uploading some of those pictures soon!

For anyone who buys the InCase Origami cover/stand for the Apple BT keyboard and their iPad, they may find the preset screen angle a little steep in some situations. Small modification, heatwrapping the fuel rail + line with gold plated plate/wrap. Will probably not have a lot of effect, but I see it as a supporting mod.

Praha 8478 was modified in 2006 from the 1971 built T3 number 6773 (serial number 160435). Modifications included new doors with opening buttons, new digital route boards, interior upgrades and a new floor.

Matchbox Series No4 Dodge K Series Stake Bed Truck Restoration. 1966 to 1968 - 1-75 Series. This is the second Stake bed I am restoring. I bought it years ago at a swap meet. The body is stripped and ready for paint. The Citristrip does a great job and washes off. This is a good body to restore.

This simple modification of the LEGO Empire State Building set (21046) represents something that almost, but not quite, happened.

 

The spire on top of the Empire State Building had been planned as an airship mooring tower during the design and construction of the building. A few attempts were made by various airships to approach or moor during 1931. This model depicts the Goodyear Blimp Columbia which successfully delivered newspapers to the building in September 1931 (without mooring) by lowering them on a line.

 

The New York Times and Portable NYC have more information about this interesting period in the building's history.

 

The Columbia is shown in the correct scale for the Empire State Building set which is approximately 1:800 scale. The Columbia was 45m long and so should measure a little over 7 studs. This design is just under 7.5 studs. This MOC removes the communications mast at the top of the building (which was not present during the 1931 mooring attempts).

O/S locker and doors over compressor, nowhere to put anything on a PVS motor as when in use by PVS the space is required for slave wheels/tyres.

handhelditems.com held a sale on their Samsung Tab leather case with attached Bluetooth keyboard for a reasonable $30 using the coupon code "tabbluetooth." I predict you'll also find these sorts of cases on Amazon.com and other mobile retailers, as I've seen similar keyboards affixed to iPad cases.

 

Without modification, the Nook Color fits the case with some material overlapping the screen. In the first image, I have marked two areas with black ink that overlap when the Nook is oriented with the "n" button to the right side of the case. Also in the first picture, I made two cuts to the left and right spans of material that connect the upper and lower halves of the case frame together. These cuts are visible in the first picture. I found these cuts allowed me to move the frame further apart and eliminate the need to trim additional material. The halves do not need to be joined to securely hold the Nook Color in place.

I couldn't figure out why my 5x7 images were out of focus. So upon disassembly of the back I made some measurements. Turns out the ridge for the light trap on the old holders is a little further from the end. Approx .060 inch...So off to the Mill we go :-)

Investigating a traction fluid leak lead to the discovery of contamination by metal particles. Due to excess contact pressure between the steel end caps and the magnesium stator significant wear was occurring to the magnesium. In the photo I'm removing the end caps ready for replacement with bronze bushings.
