Matchbox Series No4 Dodge K Series Stake Bed Truck Restoration. 1966 to 1968 - 1-75 Series. This is the second Stake bed I am restoring. I bought it years ago at a swap meet. The body is stripped and ready for paint. The Citristrip does a great job and washes off. This is a good body to restore.
This simple modification of the LEGO Empire State Building set (21046) represents something that almost, but not quite, happened.
The spire on top of the Empire State Building had been planned as an airship mooring tower during the design and construction of the building. A few attempts were made by various airships to approach or moor during 1931. This model depicts the Goodyear Blimp Columbia which successfully delivered newspapers to the building in September 1931 (without mooring) by lowering them on a line.
The New York Times and Portable NYC have more information about this interesting period in the building's history.
The Columbia is shown in the correct scale for the Empire State Building set which is approximately 1:800 scale. The Columbia was 45m long and so should measure a little over 7 studs. This design is just under 7.5 studs. This MOC removes the communications mast at the top of the building (which was not present during the 1931 mooring attempts).

O/S locker and doors over compressor, nowhere to put anything on a PVS motor as when in use by PVS the space is required for slave wheels/tyres.
handhelditems.com held a sale on their Samsung Tab leather case with attached Bluetooth keyboard for a reasonable $30 using the coupon code "tabbluetooth." I predict you'll also find these sorts of cases on Amazon.com and other mobile retailers, as I've seen similar keyboards affixed to iPad cases.
Without modification, the Nook Color fits the case with some material overlapping the screen. In the first image, I have marked two areas with black ink that overlap when the Nook is oriented with the "n" button to the right side of the case. Also in the first picture, I made two cuts to the left and right spans of material that connect the upper and lower halves of the case frame together. These cuts are visible in the first picture. I found these cuts allowed me to move the frame further apart and eliminate the need to trim additional material. The halves do not need to be joined to securely hold the Nook Color in place.
Here are some modifications to the 2023 UCS X-Wing Starfighter set 75355. The landing gear stand is the biggest addition, I've also made subtle changes to the nose of the ship and added an almost correctly scaled R2-D2. Free instructions and parts lists for all three mods are on Rebrickable.

The Landing Gear Stand provides an easy way to display the X-Wing on a coffee table. The ship doesn't need to be modified at all, just lifted off the set's original stand and slotted onto the positioning support. The gear are built into the stand itself!
As a seperate mod I've rebuilt the top surface of the nose section to give it a bit of a slope, hopefully improving the very flat looking nose. The side panels need some slight modifications to fill some gaps and I've made the nose grey, just out of personal perference.
The midi-scale R2-D2 is slightly too large but I think looks good next to the ship when landed! I couldn't figure out why my 5x7 images were out of focus. So upon disassembly of the back I made some measurements. Turns out the ridge for the light trap on the old holders is a little further from the end. Approx .060 inch...So off to the Mill we go :-)
Sensor in original position was reading approx 5 degrees higher than ambient. Re-positioning resulted in correct temperature readings.

I cut the strap off of the top of the apron and replaced it with a soft leather strap I cut. Then I sewed a vertical line in the top pocket so I can carry a pen or a screwdriver in it more easily. Since I was already screwing around, I put my name on it too. Round House sells these aprons for like 12 bucks and they're great for keeping stuff off of you when you're doing anything messy.
In the summer of 1996 two former Bristol Omnibus Company Eastern Coach Works bodied Bristol LH buses are parked up at Swanage railway station for use on the service to Bournemouth via the Sanbanks ferry, for which the front end modification is clearly visible.

Planes of Fame Air Museum Aichi D3A2 Val (Vultee BT-15 Valiant conversion); s/n 42-42171, NX67629.
This Aichi D3A Val replica is a modified Consolidated-Vultee BT-15 that was sold to the civilian market in the 40's. It was modified to represent a Japanese Val for the 1969 movie TORA TORA TORA. The modification consisted of an extra 3 feet of fuselage added between the rear cockpit and the tail, a large fiberglass dorsal fin, raised sides of the fuselage and lower canopies. The modifications also incorporated large fiberglass wheel pants. Its Wright R-975 engine was replaced with a Pratt and Whitney R-1340. After the movie was completed the Val was sold to the San Diego Aerospace Museum. The Planes of Fame Air Museum acquired the Val back in 1973. It was returned to airworthy condition for the Disney Pearl Harbor film.

Similar to the bow, stern galleries were also changed using the reference work of Bjorn Landstrom.
For his being with this ship for three consecutive years, I find that his illustrations were credible for my acceptance to modify.
A section of straight chassis rail has been welded into place, replacing the sloping rear section that suited its previous tractor unit role.

Ignoring the elegant lines of Mariann's model, I made a few tweaks to the design, extending the roof and adding a chimney. I also gave a bigger hat to the snowman, 'cause I'm a rebel like that.
This downspout diverter is available from many vendors and allows water to continue flowing through the downspout once the rain barrel is full.
